The Find: Terri’s Pants

Mar 19, 2024

On Saturday, I received the following text from a good friend. “I finally bought Terri’s pants. I should never have doubted her.” Three years since I wrote the initial post, and my Mother’s favorite pants have developed something of a cult following.

The Endless High-Rise Pant from Athleta is a winner.  The material is stretchy and comfortable, but unless you’re entirely too close to my pants for my comfort, you wouldn’t know that they’re not real pants.  They’re the perfect thing for a remote or hybrid office worker, or for someone who needs pants to wear on Saturdays that aren’t leggings.

The pants come in regular (27.5″), petite (25.5″), and tall (30.5″).  The sizes run 0-26.  The pant also come in eight colors, basic black to vibrant green and blue.

The friend who I quoted above flies between San Francisco and Spokane every week for work.  She often goes straight from the plane to her business attire office (no suits, but always dress pants).  When she asked me what pants she should buy for a longer flight to Switzerland next month, I sent her these because I simply will not rest until every woman who reads this blog owns a pair.  They’re that good.

I love these pants, they were very important to me in early pregnancy.  However, my body shape is a little happier in their wide leg version.  They’re also smashing.

Cute! But I have trouble styling things like this in a real-world way. I’m tempted to throw on a tee and sneakers, which is less than pulled together. Maybe a two ways post on styling for running around on a Saturday and for plane-to-meeting?

    • Belle says:

      That’s a great idea!

      • Anna says:

Agreed. I need to style these and similar pants for my business casual office. My go to is usually a sweater that I don’t have to tuck (which works for most of the year in Seattle), but…..meh. I need more options. Also, these are coming at a perfect time. First trimester here. Not quite ready for maternity clothes, but my belly is not loving waistbands.

        • Maria says:

I have similar pants and style them with a turtleneck and some low mary janes. Can always throw on a chic coat or blazer on top of the situation calls for it.

    • Emily Kane says:

Love your two ways suggestion! Would love to try these pants but definitely need additional styling inspiration too.

  2. Bev says:

I love these pants too! I have 3 pair and they’re perfect for any occasion. I like to wear them with the Athleta Advantage sweater and a tank underneath. Perfect for travel too.

  3. Jessica says:

What shoes would you wear with wide leg version for work?

    • Belle says:

You’re going to need a pointy toe. I usually wear Rothy’s, but I work from home. If I didn’t, I’d find a black leather point flat.

  4. Kelly says:

Is the fabric pretty forgiving or is it hard to find underwear that works with these?

    • Tei says:

The fabric is lightweight and stretchy, but holds its shape. The way the pants are constructed no real concerns over VPL.

  5. Jenn S. says:

I love the idea of these, but I can’t bring myself to like ankle lengths on my body. A 30.5″ inseam in a tall – Athleta, please! We want options!

  6. Kate H. says:

Ordered the wide leg version per your recommendation and they are so good. I’m officially stalking poshmark and athleta for more colors and sales.

  7. Kayleigh D says:

These are the best travel pants and also work really well to feel more polished (with a forgiving waistband for steak restaurants ;)) when going out to eat! I love these pants, thank you for bringing them to our attention years ago! Olive or that new gray blue will be next!

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
