The Find: A Do-Anything Dress

Mar 6, 2024

A dress that can do anything is a marvel. The dress can go to work. It can go on a dinner date. It can be worn to church. All you have to do is change your jewelry and your shoes. This is such a dress.

This dotted dress from Anne Klein is a fantastic find. The color combination of navy and pale blue is great.  The faux-wrap style is an easy wear, and I like the fuller sleeve to give it a flirtier feel.

This dress, while wonderful, is not perfect.  It runs a bit large, so I sized down.  The dress also needs a hem — it’s a strange length in real life, so make sure to have the hem taken up to just below knee-length.)  These two simple changes take the dress to the next level.

How to style it?  For work, you need a skintone-hued, flexible/comfortable pump, a pair of chic croissant-texture hoops, and a berry-red lipstick.  For a dinner date, try a pale blue shoe.

Abra – do you think it would look ok with flats? (Maybe strappy, flat sandals or a ballet flat?) I very rarely wear heels anymore.

Pretty! Would be nice for work conferences with business casual dress codes and freezing meeting rooms. Unfortunately the waist looks high for my long torso (common problem for me).

The Five Best Things I Bought This Summer

This summer, I’m shopping significantly less than in past seasons. I add things to my cart, walk away, and if I forget about them, (clearly) I didn’t need them. But the flip side of the coin is that the pieces I have purchased are thoughtfully chosen, worn more consistently, and just better.
