The Range: Best Picks from Ann Taylor

Feb 21, 2024

One of the questions that is often asked about D.C. fashion is: Why is there so much Ann Taylor?

The answer is simple enough — the hemlines are long enough, the styles are easy to wear, almost everything is machine washable, and it’s easy to find pieces for professional offices or casual ones. Plus, there’s a sale almost every weekend. And to help you find the best pieces on the AT Easter egg hunt, here are my top picks from the New Arrivals.

How gorgeous are these Mary Jane kitten heels?  So classic and sleek.  They come in black and tan.  Sizes run 5-12, with half sizes.  A great pump with a walkable, 2″ heel to keep your feet happy.

Summer is coming.  Even though I’ve had a winter cold since October, I am assured that sunshine is on the way.  And this striped shirtdress is the perfect thing for that spring/summer season.  It works with sneakers and a denim jacket.  It works with slides and big hoops.  Or just grab a cool belt and some flats.

I love the color of this longline, collarless suit.  It’s not navy.  It’s not a pastel.  It’s a sophisticated blue that works well with lighter colors or navy in summer and with black or dark grey in winter.

This diaphanous blouse with a subtle floral print and a ruffle collar is sublime.  It looks great with high waist jeans and boots.  Layer it under a blazer to lighten the look.  Or just tuck it into an ivory pencil skirt for an outfit that can go from a baptism to a boardroom.  Sizes run XXS to XXL.

This black and white tweed blazer is selling out in every size.  Don’t wait.  Go get it.

This tweed dress is the perfect Monday Dress — throw it on when you’re busy and it looks great with no effort.  I love the button detail on the shoulders.  Also, the thick tweed is perfect with tights in cold weather  or with a colored flat in spring.

These leather buckle slides are a fabulous option for summer.  They have an Hermes vibe to them.  A great, slightly dressy sandal.

I love the idea of the ivory blouse with an ivory skirt — but what color tights? It’s way too cold for bare legs.

  2. Judy says:

That blazer is already sold out and I want it so badly! Really hope they restock!!

  3. Anna says:

That blue suit almost makes me wish I worked in a place where I could wear suits again…almost

My dark under eye circles have been the bane of my existence since I was 12. Is the cause lack of sleep? Dehydration? Sinus issues? Stress? Who the hell knows. But there they are, every day, telling the world that I am an exhausted working Mom.

Sloane loves the pool. She jumps from the deck into the water with a crash, never considering her own safety, only to emerge on the surface, shouting “Again!” The pool is my daughter’s happy place. But no place where I need to wear a swimsuit in public is a happy one for me.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
