When I spotted this cardigan, I bought it instantly. Usually, I put something in my cart, walk away, and come back if I remember it. No impulse buying. But this was different. I saw this cardigan and could say dozens of ways to wear it with pieces I already own. It was a must for my wardrobe. Here are two ways that I plan to style it.
The Cardigan // This Boden Cropped Knit Jacket has the classiest high street vibes. I adore it. It comes in several colorways; the navy and black stripe are also fab. It’s the kind of piece that always feels stylish. The kind of piece you reach for when you just need to look and feel your best. I couldn’t find a close cousin of this jacket in a smaller size, but I did find a similar striped option.
Look No. One // This outfit has so much potential. Wear it to the office for a business casual look. Wear it to brunch with friends. Dinner with the family for the holidays. Or just anytime you need to feel perfectly pulled together.
I chose a Breton striped tee from Boden to go with the Boden knit jacket. The stripes with the striped trim feels intentional and subtle at the same time. Pair it with these absolutely incredible leather Iris flats from Boden and it gives the most tailored look.
For the jeans, I chose a longer version of my beloved Leenah jeans from Paige. These are the perfect wide leg jean for my body type. It has a little flare, which I like, but it still functions like a trouser jean. For an under-$75 pair, try these Banana Republic Factory jeans.
I finished off this look with a cool Madewell bag. It’s tough to find unique, functional bags in a decent price point, but this is certainly one. I also love these Monica Vinader enamel and gold earrings. They give just the right amount of cool-girl vibe in a very wearable package. The price on these is splurge-level for sure, but I found this similar pair at Wolf & Badger for $68.
Look No. Two // For this outfit, I wanted a ladylike, Audrey Hepburn feel. A sleeveless sheath dress, like this one from J.Crew, was just the ticket. The dress runs 00-24 on the sizes, and it’s currently 50% off with code SALETIME.
It’s cut in a midi-length, so it feels a bit more modern than a knee-length dress. I would need to hem it up to below-the-knee but not calf-length, since most of my height is in my torso. At this length, I’ll just look shorter, so I need that happy medium.
For the accessories, I chose these Mary Jane mules also from J.Crew. Mary Janes came back in a big way this season, but I can’t wear them without feeling like a little girl. These mules feel like a grownup way to wear the style that’s fresh and fun. They’re currently 40% off with code FAMILY.
I added these Pavoi earrings that I’ve worn too much recently. I like this very classy clutch from Demellier. And a red lipstick is, of course, a must for this look. If you choose to style your hair up, leave it a little loose or else this look will go more school headmistress than elegant professional.

I have been eyeing that sweater, but hesitated because of some of the reviews complaining about the buttons. What’s your take on them? The buttons look fine to me in the pictures, but it’s hard to know without seeing them in person!
The sweater should be here on Friday. I’ll report back. But if they’re an issue that isn’t major, I may just replace them. It’s a repair I could probably do myself for a few dollars.
I love look 1! I’m a big fan of the look of the cropped jacket, but how do you wear with jeans and the tee? Do you tuck the tee in so that the top and cardigan are all cropped? A french tuck to add some length? I’m apple shaped and petite so I’m trying to figure out the most flattering way to pull this fab look off!
I’d tuck.
I have the navy version and the gray houndstooth version. I am 4’11”, so they are hip length on me. They are quite thick cotton with a smooth hand. The buttons do not bother me, quality-wise, although I question the gold buttons on a gray cardigan. I would have preferred silver. I bought both on a 15% discount.
I have a striped cardigan (similar cropped) and had put together something like version #1, but did not think about putting with sheath. Love the look!
Any idea where we can find non-cropped styles right now? I have a post-partum belly and all of the cropped silhouettes right now are killing me because they make me took cut in 1/4th, instead of achieving that flattering proportion of 1/3.
