Six Under-$200 Holiday Party Dresses

Nov 2, 2023

I blinked and it was November.  Which means that I’ll look away for a moment, and it’ll be the holidays.  So I better buy a party dress now, because the last thing I want is to be hunting for something on December 23rd.  Here are a few that caught my eye.

Velvet is always big for holiday, but this year, it’s everywhere.  This easy wrap-effect dress is a wonderful choice.  It’s shown here in plus, but it’s also available in misses.  If you want a velvet dress that feels a bit younger, this Vince Camuto fit-and-flare dress is worth a look.

Want a bit of color in an elegant package?  This hot pink Pomander Place Lennox dress is incredible.  I would probably leave the white boots at home (🤷‍♀️), and wear it with burgundy velvet sandal for a bit of holiday cheer.

I always like to wear white to winter parties, it’s a fresh look.  This dress from WHBM is a great option.  The sleeve is fabulous.  Also in petite.

This Ann Taylor dress is perfect for any party.  What I like about it is that it gives you a lightness while still offering a sleeve and a modest length (though I might raise it a bit).  The shimmer is nice too.  If you like a plisse dress (plisse are the crinkled tiny pleats), I also found this shorter, printed one at H&M is amazing.

If a real party dress is on your wishlist, I like this long-sleeve sequin minidress.  It’s a great look at any age.  This BR dress is also available in petite.

Have a more relaxed party on offer?  This sweater dress is a little bit sultry and a little bit cozy.  I love the slit and the off-the-shoulder.  The dress also comes in purple, and sizes into petite and tall.

My dark under eye circles have been the bane of my existence since I was 12. Is the cause lack of sleep? Dehydration? Sinus issues? Stress? Who the hell knows. But there they are, every day, telling the world that I am an exhausted working Mom.

Sloane loves the pool. She jumps from the deck into the water with a crash, never considering her own safety, only to emerge on the surface, shouting “Again!” The pool is my daughter’s happy place. But no place where I need to wear a swimsuit in public is a happy one for me.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
