Sephora Sale Winter 2023 Picks

Oct 30, 2023

Have you tired of the Sephora Sale content yet?

How about a new rule?  Influencers can’t sell you anything they didn’t actually buy at this sale.  No more, I would have bought… or I really love, but didn’t need … or I’ve used before.  Only what you actually purchased.  If you didn’t need it on sale, today, at present, it doesn’t count.  The posts would be a lot shorter that way. I’ll start.

01. Westman Atelier Skin Activator // This serum is a new-to-me purchase.  I usually just pick up beloved products at the Sale, but so many of my friends extoll the glories of this hydrating, toning, wrinkle-fighting serum/primer, that I had to try it.  There was no way around it.  And given that the combination of indoor air and freezing temps is badgering my skin, I need this hydrating miracle to arrive STAT.  Will report back.

02. Dr. Jart Clearing Mask // Do you have acne?  After three masks in seven days, you’ll be shocked by the improvement.  I use one every 10-days, and two the week before my cycle.  My acne is 80% better when I use them.  Sometimes, if my hormones are in balance, 100%.  I am never without them.  Yes, $9 a throw is not cheap.  But I have spent so, so, so much more to get less.

03. Sephora Eyebrow Pencil // I need a micro-sized chisel tip to fill in my brows without looking like a Kardashian.  This Sephora pencil is a very affordable option that comes in lots of colors.  I wear the Neutral Grey Brown.

04. Ouai Volume Spray // This volume-lifting spray is the best.  Not crunchy.  Not drying.  Just a lift that lasts.  I buy it every sale.  Every.single.sale.

05. Topicals Faded Brightening & Clearing Eye Masks // Do you know how many under-eye masks I’ve used to relieve puffiness and dark circles?  The answer is all of them.  For many years, I loved the gold ones from Amazon, and then, I got worried about the ingredients, when a dermatologist told me that they’re produced with unverifiable ingredients.  “Most people assume there’s animal collagen, but from what animals, raised in what conditions?” That thought will sober you up real quick.

But these Topicals Eye Masks are amazing.  Thick, soothing, and brightening.  I love them.  Do they completely fix the under-eye darkness of a woman with a 14-month-old?  No, but they come damn close.

06. Caliray Tubing Mascara // I buy several mini-sizes of this mascara at every sale. It’s my favorite.  And with the mini-size, I can swap it out whenever I need a new tube, without throwing away a lot of product.

07. Bobbi Brown Under-Eye Corrector in Bisque // I recently purchased a refill of this product that came in stick form.  I’m sorry to say, it wasn’t as good.  The creamy consistency of the pot version just blends better.  So I snapped up several at the Sale in case they’re about to switch all the packaging over to the stick.  My crisper drawer is about to be nothing but cosmetics and Sloane’s kiwi snacks.

  1. Jen says:

I have been using the Bobbi Brown corrector for the past two years on your rec. I love it, and I have alternated it with other things (like Shape Tape) to see if I get better results. It smooths out and doesn’t make concealer streaks like Shape Tape and others do. I just bought some Dr. Jart daily face peels and body peels at the insistent recommendation of my dental hygienist, so I’m excited to try those. I may need to try those under eye masks as well!

  2. KJW says:

I love your idea about influencers only selling what they have used before. That’s an issue I have with many of them, be it clothes, makeup, home products, etc. and it lends you amazing credibility – which is why I’ve followed you for a decade. I love that you test things for a period of time, report back, or will even update a positive experience after months of use with a realistic issue. Now adding the Ouai item to cart!

  3. e says:

Great round up. Can someone talk to me about tubing mascara? I understand that it’s (significantly) easier to take off – is that the main draw?

    • Sav says:

I find that tubing mascara stays put all day and doesn’t slowly travel down my face. That’s the main reason I use it.

    • KateL says:

+1 to tubing mascara lasting all day and not smudging under my eyes.

My favorite at Sephora is Merit and fave drugstore brand is L’Oreal double extend.

  4. Elinor says:

I so appreciate the mindset behind this post. I was reading a different blogger’s Sephora “picks,” and I realized she had recommended over 50 items! At what point are you just recommending the store?!

    • Belle says:

The affiliate networks put out lists of what they expect to sell best based on data from sephora. This is where most of the suggestions come from.

  5. Lindsay says:

I’m excited to try the Dr. Jart+ masks after your reco. I just saw they’re 50% off on Dr. Jart’s website too!

  6. Beth says:

I love Sephora, but Amazon has them beat for the pricing of the Dr. Jart masks. Just bought a pack of 5 for a little under $20. They’re available in different varieties too, as well as a multi-pack if you’re like me and indecisive about which ones you want to buy more than one of.

  7. Sara says:

Westman Atelier is GREAT. That product is too pricey for me, but I’ve liked everything else I’ve tried.
Ordered the Ouai spray – thanks for the rec!
And agree on Bobbi Brown’s corrector – I can’t find anything better for my genetics-and-allergies-caused dark circles

Add to Cart: Five Recent Amazon Purchases

Since my daughter was born, Amazon has claimed so much of my money that I had to buy stock just to get some of it back.  Between the formula, onesies, fruit pouches, diapers, wipes, and ever evolving list of baby development gear, I could not survive without Prime.   My husband no longer notices the […]
