Friday Outfit: Leather Pants Can Be Classy

Oct 27, 2023

No, you didn’t hallucinate that headline.  I mean it.  Leather pants can be classy.  It’s all in how you style them.  Just let me show you.

This outfit is so good.  Stylish and cool, but still elegant and soft.  When I spotted it on Pinterest, I was instantly smitten.  I tried to search for its origin, but I couldn’t find the original creator, which is unfortunate, because I would love to follow her content.  If you know where it came from, let me know.

The Pants // J.Crew made these incredible chestnut faux-leather pants.  They’re so chic and affordable.  I also found these high-waisted leather flare-legs from Selfridge’s.  These Steve Madden pants are a great affordable option.

Not into pants?  Try a leather skirt.  This Revolve leather pencil skirt is fabulous.  If I had to pick one, this a-line leather skirt with a front slit from Banana Republic is absolutely the one.

The Sweater // I loved the slightly oversized look of this chunky, ribbed turtleneck from J.Crew is a wardrobe must-have.  The model on the J.Crew site is wearing it with huge gold bracelets (this and this), and it’s such a phenomenal look.  It would be incredible with a pair of distressed jeans, a very casual meets glam look.

I also love this waffle textured sweater from LL Bean; it makes me want to buy a plaid vest and move into a cabin in the woods.  For a splurge, good quality piece you’ll wear for years, Naadam is a well thought of brand.  And I love the slouchy neck on this one.  Plus-size?  H&M has you covered.

The Blazer // I searched high and low for a soft oatmeal blazer.  And where do I find it?  Abercrombie.  I’m sorry, what?  The polos and denim mini-skirt retailer of my youth now has this fabulous blazer for sale.  I suppose stranger transformations have happened.

Also in my hunting, I found this really fun funnel neck jacket from M&S.  It’s such a chic piece.  If you have to stand outdoors in mild-ish weather this fall/winter, snap it up immediately.  It’s great.  I also love this very relaxed coat from Nordstrom Rack with an incredibly cool style.

The Shoes, Sunnies and Bag // Coordinating the pants with the bag and shoes felt a little heavy handed at first.  But the more I looked, I realized that the consistency it what helps bring the look together.  Several brown hues competing with the pants would be bad news.

For the shoes, I think the pointed toe is key with these pants.  You really need to draw out that leg line.  These Nine West Arlene pumps are a great basic, and the heel height isn’t high.  Which, at 41, I really appreciate.  This bag from Coach adds a bit more texture to the look with the wrapped details, which I like.  And I picked an adorable pair of dark tortoise sunglasses to finish it off.

The Jewelry // I am so in love with this Monica Vinader ring.  It’s $175 price tag is mid-point, but the feel and quality in person is so good.  It’s such a chic, relaxed piece.  I adore it.  I’m going to keep posting it until every single one of you owns one.  Or they sell out, whichever comes first.

I resisted these Pavoi earrings for so long.  I feel like half the influencers I know own them.  But they are great.  Bigger than I normally wear, but not so big I feel like a character on Dynasty.  Highly recommend.

The Makeup // I’d keep this look really fresh and natural.  Nude-to-you lip.  Relaxed hair.  Slightly rosy cheek.  With one exception, I’d put a little sparkle on the eyes.  Charlotte Tilbury’s Eyes to Mesmerize shadows are great.  They’re buildable so you can get a little luminosity or a lot of shimmer.  Such fab colors too.

    Wow. This is great!

Hi Albra! Are the shoes in light tan or pecan? Cute outfit. Thanks!

  3. Chloe Thompson says:

More ideas on leather pants/faux leather leggings that DON’T involve heels, please! I feel like I just fallback to the same kinds of outfits. Also, are leather pants worth getting tailored? I struggle with finding ones that don’t look baggy but aren’t too tight..

    • Belle says:

Yes, if you spend the money on leather pants, tailor them. You could easily wear these with a point flat or a chunky heeled boot with a point toe. They don’t need the heel.

I got a hit on Instagram for the outfit. Different angle, but it seems like the account is all the same person (and verified!) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKF0elEnP9E/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet
