Coat Week: The Best Trenches

Oct 23, 2023

This week, I would like to discuss one of my favorite topics: coats.  Because coats are truly one of the best parts about cold weather, perhaps the only good part.  So let’s start with trench coats.

This olive Mango trench is absolutely fantastic.  Perfect for fall, but a step ahead of your basic tan trench.  I recommend wearing it with black, grey and ivory.  I like the relaxed feel of this, if you want something with more structure, try this Avec les Filles coat.

If you wear a lot of athleisure (especially if you have to stand outside and watch soccer in the rain), this Technical Trench from Sweaty Betty is a great option.  I like the bright accents and the fact that it feels like you could get caught in a gale without getting so much as a drop of water on you.  Need something cheaper?  Nordstrom Rack has this slate blue option and a pink one from Sweaty Betty.

The rich, chocolate color of this Estelle trench in plus-size is sublime.  I adore it.  However, one note, I would change the buttons for something darker.  The lighter buttons are a little distracting.

Looking for an affordable trench?  This Calvin Klein coat from Macy’s comes in at under-$100, and has a softer, slightly slouchy style. It’s a nice option if a trench isn’t your daily driver.

If you love the look of a wool trench, this one from Boden hits all the right marks.  I love this “dusty pink” color that looks like camel and mauve had a love child.  The coat also comes in a more traditional navy or tan.

If you already have a full length trench, may I suggest a shorter one?  Great for casual wear, the short trench looks awesome with jeans and a sweater.  Try this mustard one, also from H&M.

Add to Cart: Five Recent Amazon Purchases

Since my daughter was born, Amazon has claimed so much of my money that I had to buy stock just to get some of it back.  Between the formula, onesies, fruit pouches, diapers, wipes, and ever evolving list of baby development gear, I could not survive without Prime.   My husband no longer notices the […]
