The Best of What’s Left: 2023 Anniversary Sale

Jul 17, 2023

This year, I was grateful that I saved so many items to my wishlist.  I was let into the Anniversary Sale on Friday, and also everything I was shopping for was sold out.  But over the past 72-hours, several pieces have come back in stock.  So if an item you wanted is sold out, don’t despair, it will very likely be back.

Last week, I published a list of my must-have Anniversary Sale picks and the best of what I found at the sale.  But as promised, as the sale opens to the public, here is the best of what is left.

Outerwear // There are still many fall and winter coats on the shelves.  I’m guessing the hot weather chased many shoppers away.  This Pendleton coat is casual and stylish, and the crest on this Ralph Lauren wool coat is very chic.  Love leather?  Both the AllSaints Dalby leather jacket and this sleek Moto Jacket are still available.

Workwear // The black-and-white blazer that several influencers have raved about is still available. It’s awesome for work or with jeans.  The rest of the styles available should be sorted by size so you know what’s still in stock.  I wish-listed this belted blazer.

The dresses are a bit picked over, but this seasonless Vince Camuto dress with a pleat neck is still available.  This colorblock Maggy London is a lovely option (also in plus size).

As for the blouses still on the shelves, I like this Halogen wrap front blouse for <$50.  It’s slightly slouchy in an elegant way.  This Eileen Fisher mockneck blouse is also a versatile option.

Shoes // Sadly, the boots I wanted did not survive the ravenous early sale shoppers.  But these Blondo ankle boots were also high on my list.  I own them in leather, and they’re so comfortable.  And they’re waterproof, so they’re perfect for fall.

I love these Bruno Magli flats; they have a wonderful classic feel to them.  And if you need sneakers, these Cole Haans with metallic accents are amazing.

Sweaters // This French Connection crewneck has an incredible texture.  It also comes in several colors.  I like the slouchy feel of this turtleneck from Treasure & Bond.  I bought this Vero Moda wrap sweater the second I saw it.  And if you want something chunky and modern, this Madewell sweater is still available in several sizes.

Bags & Accessories // This <$50 taupe vegan leather tote is very chic.  This simple, square crossbody bag is also worth a look.

Monica Vinader had several pieces in the sale.  This heart pendant.  This pearl and gold chain.  And this hammered ring.  All are lovely.  But my absolute favorite is this box chain ring.  It’s stunning and affordable.

One more thing, the Anniversary Sale isn’t known for its sunglasses.  But there are so many good pairs in this year’s selections.  I really like this tortoise shell Coach pair.

Beauty Exclusives // Last but not least, the beauty portion of the sale is usually the first to sell out.  This year, there’s a bit more left than usual.  Not to be missed are the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick trio, the Bobbi Brown eye palette, and the Trish McEvoy under eye brightener.

Also, if you need to grow back your brows or lashes, Revitalash is always a good item to snag from the sale.

Baby Stuff // We use these mats that stick to the counter to feed Sloane.  They’re great.  Also, for summer, Sloane is wearing nothing but short rompers.  So this one with the whales is a must.  Also if you know someone whose baby will need a warm, winter bunting, we bought this one last year and it was so adorable.

The Cole Hann sneakers go to the Blondo waterproof booties.

I agree to keep checking back on wishlist items! I ordered 90% of my wishlist on Thursday night when my access opened. A couple of items were already gone (Mini Melissa sandals). I over-ordered so that I can try everything on; anything that I do not love or doesn’t fit is going back. Already there is a significant chance that a Tahari suit is going back. Although the waist fits, the arms look too big and I’m going to see if that can be tailored. I have that blue tie suit coming this week. If it’s not a good fit, it’s going back. (I’m hoping it fits!) I’m going to keep checking on those Mini Melissa sandals for my mini!

  3. Jill says:

I received multiple error messages trying to buy something, then it was sold out. Time wasted. Sigh. Think I’m giving up on Nordstrom for awhile.

  4. Cat says:

I can talk you out of the Cole Haan sneakers (assuming it’s the Grandpro pair) – I love the style but the metallic leather is super stiff, so although the fit was the same as my other 4 pairs, the heel was practically giving me a blister standing still. Returning.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
