The Find: A Pretty Dress for Any Occasion

May 11, 2023

Now that I have to buy clothing for two (and Sloane has expensive taste in onesies, that chick demands two-way zippers), I need dresses that work for more than one occasion.  That frock needs to be able to do church and date night, work and a casual wedding.  My money needs versatility, and this dress gives back.

This Tuckernuck Jackie Dress comes in eight colors with all of the mid-century Chanel vibes.  The braided collar and gold buttons make it feel very Upper East Side.  And the size range runs from 00-18 (XXS, XXL).

The dress is on the pricier side at $250+ for most colorways, but as I said, I could wear this to a number of different occasions.  In the photo, the dress looks quite short.  On my 5’7″ frame it grazes the top of the knee, but I feel most comfortable in it with tights in winter or flats in summer (no reason to lift that hem).

If you like those Southern, preppy vibes in your wardrobe, Tuckernuck is your shop.  I recently bought this muted cheetah-print popover to wear with white jeans, even though I look like my Aunt Faye when I wear it.  I’m just going to call it an homage.

I love the dress you linked, but I’m not sure how to make it work for my body type (pear shape). Anyone have any Tuckernuck dresses they love that work well for women with wide hips?

    • Belle says:

Size up, take it to Nordstrom or a tailor, ask them to put darts in the bust to rebalance it.

Hi, I’m pear-shaped, and I have the Royal Shirt dress in antelope. Love the quality and get so many compliments.

Ugh, I have wanted this dress for ages, but the price is a touch high. You may have finally given me permission!!!

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
