Happy Hour: The Cozy Up

Dec 16, 2022

Yesterday was my last day at the law firm.  A lot has changed in my life in the past 12-months, and I’m re-evaluating my priorities and my future.  For the winter, I will be back in Montana, and it feels nice to go home, to re-center.  But last night, when I got home, the weight of the past 18-months just hit me, and I needed a rest.  So let’s start with the attire.

I have posted these Nordstrom Moonlight Pajamas so.so.so many times, but they’re worth it.  If you could wear a deep breath, this is what it would feel like.  I put them on and it’s just like, “Whew. I made it home in one piece.”  They also come in plus size.  (Pro-tip: Wash them on gentle with Damage Defense to keep the fabric its softest and prevent wear.)

Other cozy essentials?  This Unhide faux-fur blanket and I are soulmates.  I also need my slippers.  And, if I can remember, a pair of soothing gel eye masks.

You ladies know that I love a Hot Toddy.  My new favorite thing?  To mix the clove, citrus, and whiskey flavors with tamarind paste instead of honey gives it a tangy sweetness with a bit more depth.  It just makes your traditional cozy up cocktail a bit more special.

Even if you don’t love hot cocktails, you can mix this paste into the liquor of your choice for a burst of flavor.  Just mix citrus flavors, tamarind paste and spirits with a bit of seltzer water, and you’re done.

Big news, Abra, but one big change in life often inspires another. For me, in spite of always wanting children and having lots of experience with other people’s, therefore thinking I had the whole thing well in hand, the shift in my priorities and perspective after my first child was born was an unexpected earthquake rippling through my life. All worked out very well for me, but it sure took this cautious planner by surprise. All good wishes to you and your family as you do the next right thing, and I hope you have a lovely first holiday season as a threesome!

Wishing you the best for the holiday season, esp celebrating as a threesome! Big news, and we hope you’re taking some time for yourself as well.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
