Opinion Page: Product Follow-Ups, Vol. XI

Nov 9, 2022

The nature of influencing and blogging is to share the products you are buying with your readership.  But sometimes a product is stellar on day one and lackluster on day 21.  Other times you love it just as much.  So here are some follow-ups on products that I’ve shared over the past few months.

I shared this iPhone case on my Instagram account, and I am very happy with it.  It’s made of a flexible silicone and lined with microfiber.  It’s also cut to protect the camera and thick enough to offer some drop protection.  And it comes in several colors, this is the teal.  Under-$20.

These Blondo Waterproof boots caught my eye earlier in the fall, and I wasn’t sure how I would feel about them when they arrived.  But I love them.  Love.

The thicker heel and front sole make them stable and comfortable to walk in.  The flexible fabric near the ankles also gives you some added comfort during long work days.  They look great with skinny jeans, but I also wear them under long work trousers when I need a shoe that can be worn all day.

Also from Instagram, I tried Tarte’s Busy Gal Brows as a replacement for the Glossier Boy Brow (which started causing breakouts during my pregnancy).  I like this product, but mostly because of the applicator shape.  The thinner, bent applicator makes applying the product easier.  The formula is fine, but it gets a little thick if you’re not careful.  Regardless, if you need a brow product that is easy to apply, this is the stuff.

This is a tale of two lace shirts.  I bought this mockneck lace top, and it felt very 2010 to me when I wore it.  So I swapped it out for this button up lace blouse. The button up was easier to wear, more flattering and gave me a little bit of lace without making me feel like I was reading the Glitter Guide.

My Sister Made Me Buy It convinced me to buy this rechargeable table lamp.  I put it in the newsletter, and I am buying it for every person I know who is having a baby this year.

This light can be used like a flashlight to move through a dark house or placed on a nightstand.  On the lowest setting it can be used for a 3:00AM feeding or diaper change without waking your baby.  With 48-hour battery life, you can use it outside for evening dinners in the summer or use it as a night light.  It’s a little small at 8″ tall, but I love this thing.

I have these exact Blondo boots, and I wore them every day on a 9 day vacation in Germany – including two days at Oktoberfest! Trekked over small towns and down the hill from Neuschwanstein Castle in them. They truly are waterproof and look great with skinny jeans, trousers, and dresses! Highly recommend.

Jealous the boots worked for you! I love Blondo (discovered here) but this particular pair didn’t work for me (pinched at the arch). They’re so pretty!

I also purchased the Blondo boots, and while I love the look, my feet are killing me at the end of the day. For me, the heel is too tall to walk around all day in comfortably. I decided to keep them to wear on special occasions but back to the drawing board for an everyday boot.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
