The Find: Linen Pants for Summer

Jun 16, 2022

For obvious reasons, I will not be wearing jeans this summer.  And given that my legs are swollen with fluid retention, I’m wearing shorts sparingly.  Luckily, linen pants give me a light, breezy alternative that is perfect for summer.

Caslon has some of the best linen pieces for summer.  These relaxed, wide leg have a comfortable draw-string waistband and come in four colors.  Prefer a skinnier leg?  Try this pair also from Caslon.

I also adore this high-waist, rust colored pair from Wit & Wisdom.  And these sage-green utility pants are also worth a look.

Old Navy also has a wide selection linen pants in misses and plus-size.  Ann Taylor also has a few options, though you won’t see me wearing them to work.  (Wrinkles in my weekend life are fine, at the office, that’s going to bug me.)  Athleta also has some options, which are also available in petite and tall.

Pregnant?  Old Navy has some choices, so does H&M.

Heads up for those long wide leg Caslon pants – they’re a rayon blend, so they will shrink like crazy in length if you throw them in the dryer!

I just bought the Quince linen pants and am eagerly awaiting them, hoping they’re the linen pants of my dreams…

Jess, I own three pair of the Quince linen pants and love them. They stretch out a little, because they are linen, so you can get away with sizing down if you want.

Love the old navy pants, they’ve had them the last few summers. Look for sales and get one in every color. Good sized pockets, so breezy and comfy.

I just got a pair of the J Crew seaside pants on clearance. They’re so good I may just also get a regular pair!

I’m not sure how it’s taken me so long to realize how amazing linen pants are for summer but they’re going to be just about all I wear this season. I got a great version from Gap Factory!

Had the same thought when I bought my first pair (originally for travel to a hot place with modest local dress). Figured I’d get use out of them for the trip and then they’d languish in the closet. Turns out, linen pants are an amazing summer staple!

I just found my unicorn linen pants at Everlane! Full length, decently-sized front pockets, no elastic waist, 100% linen, and not crazy expensive. Their lightest color (a cream/flax) was a little sheer but the pistachio green was lovely and a little different from anything else in my wardrobe. And they have a brick & mortar store in DC now. I *think* the high waist with pleats is a little trendy but not too dated…at least I hope so. I thought they were true to size (29” waist, 6 and 8 both fit).

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
