The Find: A Chic Maternity Dress

May 18, 2022

Finding maternity clothes has been a challenge.  The sizing is strange.  The quality is often poor.  The prices are high.  And all of it feels a little blah.

This chain print Seraphine dress is a nice maternity option.  The quality wouldn’t be worth full price, but for the reduced price of $39, it’s a steal.  It’s flattering on, and it’s very comfortable.

As for sizing, I bought a six and that would be my pre-pregnancy size.  It fits well, with a bit of room for growth.  I wear it with a slim-fitting jacket and flats.

Seraphine was a staple of my maternity wear. I was able to go to the store, and the sales associate recommended sizing up one size if you’re on the taller side – I was very glad I did, because it gave what I bought a lot more longevity. I was very glad I did; I didn’t ever get very big, but a few items still ended perilously short!

Possibly a weird question but—do you think this dress would work for non-maternity? It’s super cute!

    • Belle says:

I think the cut of the dress would look like a full-swing style on a non-maternity wearer, so it would work. I will tell you I’m a 6 pre-pregnancy, and the 6 had a little room. So unless you have larger bust or carry weight in your middle, I would likely size down.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
