Valentine’s Day Lingerie, 2022

Jan 19, 2022

Lingerie is one of my favorite things.  And around Valentine’s Day, the selection is at its very best.  Whether you like lacy underpinnings or comfortable, but pretty undergarments, this post has a little something for everyone.  Because lingerie should be about what makes you feel beautiful and confident.

Anthropologie is my favorite place to shop for lingerie.  Bar none.  Hands down.  No competition.  Their selection is the perfect mix of styles, and no matter your comfort level, you’ll find something you love wearing.

Unique Pieces.  This flamenco-inspired Eva Franco maxi-length lace dress is sublime.  It was tops on my list this year.  I also love these hipster briefs with a bow-tie in back.  And don’t miss this sheer, tie-front crop top from Only Hearts.

Comfortable and Pretty.  This Rita Lace Hipster Brief and Lia Bralette take every day pieces to the next level.  This Valentine Lounge Set has vintage vibes and a cute, heart print.  Looking for a good mix of comfort and lace, try these hipster briefs and this underwire bralette.

Journelle is another great brand of lingerie that’s available at several retailers.  Zappos has the best selection of styles and sizes.  Their bodysuits are incredibly sexy.  And their modal-chemises are alluring, yet comfortable.

Bloomingdale’s always stocks a variety boudoir sets.  Bluebella has many mid-price styles; the cap-sleeves on their Marina balconette bra are fantastic.

Fleur de Mal also has a lot of bright colors including this raspberry colored set and this blue floral option.  Both are great if you want to break away from black underpinnings.

Need a full-coverage option?  Chantelle’s Rive Gauche bra is beautiful.  I also love the sheer details on this Simone Perele bra.

H&M is a great place to find affordable lingerie.  I love the plunge underwire on this lace bralette.  This bodysuit is a classic look.  If you want something pretty, try this dainty bralette.  Plus-size?  Try this lace bra.

Nordstrom is also a great option for lingerie shopping.  My favorite set this year is this eyelash lace and satin set from Oh La La Cheri.  It has Old Hollywood vibes, but is still wearable.  And their plunge-neck one-piece is really fantastic also.

This lace robe (also in plus) is a great option over other lingerie or on its own.  For something comfortable and pretty, Fleur’t has this fantastic jersey and lace chemise.

Looking for something with a more modern look?  Try this sheer halter style bralette from Hanky Panky with a keyhole front.

Need color?  The mesh-floral lace on this teal Dita von Teese bra is amazing (her brand also carries larger sizes than most).  If you’re feeling bold, this orange strappy teddy from Haughty is worth a look.  And the pink floral of this Natori underwire bra has a beautifully ethereal quality to it.

Do you have a specific lingerie need this year?  Leave your query in the comments and I’ll add it to this week’s Ask the Editor.

I’d love some more Xl/1x options, cute pjs that are still comfy to sleep in.

Love all the suggestions – especially the Flamenco dress!

Slightly offtopic, but where are people buying everyday underwear/bras these days? Looking to move on from VS.

    • J says:

YES! I second that. Every time I find underwear I like it gets discontinued.

Also would love some recs for this! I put a lot of effort into finding good, well-fitting bras last year but I haven’t bought a new pair of underwear in at least 3 years. Definitely need to update the full range of styles- comfy/sleeping, no-show, and lacy/lingerie.

    • Niki says:

I am of the not well endowed crew and currently live in the Target Auden seamless line for underwear, and the Auden signature smooth comfort bralette.

    • Amanda G says:

I recently purchased a couple of pairs of underwear from SKIMS. I think they are a great quality. Size/color was tricky at the time I purchase and options available. But I plan on buying more.

Just a heads up – Journelle apparently gave up on putting together a reasonable size chart on their website. I reached out last year because I was given a gift card and was told “we’re working on it.” It’s been over a year and the size chart is still a train wreck. I haven’t tried to order their stuff from anywhere else, but it’s worth mentioning if you’re shopping on their website.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
