The Find: A Great Wrap Blouse

Oct 5, 2021

I love a wrap top.  They’re chic, comfortable, and flattering on days when you feel ‘meh’ about your body.  Wear them with casual pieces or professional ones, they’re just as good with leggings as they are with a pencil skirt.

Meet the puff sleeve, side tie knit top from Nordstrom. This ballerina-inspired top that is perfect for bringing a bit of style to how we live now.  It’s versatile enough to be dressy or relaxed.

This top comes in three colors: black, white, and a coppery-brown.  I saw the white in store, and it was a bit thinner than I hoped.  The black and brown are opaque.  Sizes run 0-18.

Looking for a plus-size option?  This top is also available in size 1x-3x.

I love this look! But in reality many of these styles of tops I’ve tried on are way too low cut. It’s not really attractive to me to add the tank underneath, I think the colored “triangle” at the neckline disrupts the look. Frustrating to me since these tops look so great on models!

If you can thread a needle and sew even a relatively straight line, it’s easy to just sew up the v a little bit. I do this all the time.

I do the same thing! I also sew snaps or hook & eye clasps into a lot of my wrap tops and dresses for the same reason. You could also use fashion tape, but all of these options require very little in the way of sewing skills.

What would you wear this with for a smart casual look? I think leggings would feel a bit too body conscious with a top that isn’t longer. Jeans and ballet flats, maybe? I love the idea because I adore a wrap dress, just trying to figure out how it works in this iteration.
