Happy Hour: A Mocktail for Summer/Fall

Sep 24, 2021

We restart IVF treatments next month, so I’m doing dry October.  And I was feeling like a mocktail that could bridge the gap between summer and fall.  No cider.  No cinnamon.  Something that let me have a little bit of summer in my September.

This Cranberry-Coconut Lime Rickey is a nice option.  The cranberry juice gives you a hint of fall, while the coconut and lime keep you firmly in summer vibes.  The recipe calls for club soda to make it fizz.  I think the Fever Tree club soda gives you the best fix for your buck.

Speaking of summer-fall transitions: I’m not sure where my fall wardrobe is headed yet.  Will I be all WFH?  Will I be in office?  Will I be in Montana more, or Washington more?  So I just wanted a couple of staple pieces to carry me over the threshold until I figure out what I need.

LOFT is having an amazing sale right now — 50% off and free shipping with code CYBER.  I picked up a rust-colored dress that can be dressed up or worn with a chunky cardigan and slippers.  This v-neck pocket cardigan comes in an amazing selection of colors and is perfect for home or work.  As for outerwear, this double breasted coat in a soft neutral is to die for.

Have a great weekend!

From a mom of 3 IVF kiddos (twins +1), I wish you all the luck and grace you need on this journey.

Thank you for holding out on fall flavors! I’m in Northern Virginia and the humidity earlier this week was not doing anything to induce cozy vibes. My personal rule is apples are fine in September but pumpkin, Halloween, etc., has to wait until October 1.

If you find yourself missing the way a cocktail drinks vs a mocktail, Seedlip is actually a really great non-alcoholic spirit. Even just a splash of it goes a long way to giving a mocktail a bit more complexity and depth.

I’ve also really enjoyed Tost, a tea-based sparkling “wine alternative.” Tastes more complex and feels more special than Martinelli’s.

Having gone through multiple rounds of IVF, I found long hikes to be therapeutic. Try to stay off of the internet and message boards. Get quality sleep. Treat yourself to something nice now and then. Sending you love.

Came by to second seedlip, and also gruvi and curious elixers. Curious Elixers has one flavor with ashwagandh, but the rest are pregnancy/TTC/IVF safe, I think.

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
