The Favorite Five: H&M Brings the Heat

Aug 31, 2021

I have a love/hate relationship with shopping at H&M.  On the one hand, I have two dresses from there that I bought 3+ years ago that are still favorites.  On the other hand, sorting through their copious selection is enough to give me vertigo.  But some of their new arrivals for fall are so smoking hot, I’m willing to feel a bit woozy.

I love a classic one-button blazer, so when I find one that’s a bit more modern but feels versatile and wearable, I’m interested.  This Boucle Jacket with the double-breasted buttons would look great for work or weekend.  It’s a strong piece.

The moment I saw this Draped Dress, I scooped it up.  First off, the earthy color is perfect for fall.  Second, my mid-section is becoming a real trouble spot for me, and this twisted detail is going to hide it away like a present you don’t want your spouse to find. And third, it looks impossibly comfy for work from home.

This knot-detail waist belt is so chic.  Layer this over any sheath dress you own for a sublime accent that will flatter your figure.  I cannot believe it’s <$20.

If you’re allergic to wool, this cotton-blend rib-knit cardigan is for you.  The button accents are stylish, while the cut is relaxed and modern.  It’s a great desk cardigan or layer-over-loungewear cardigan.

This Tie Belt Coat in a sumptuous chocolate brown is a wonderful piece for fall.  Put it on over distressed jeans and a t-shirt or your work attire for a chic final element.  Or layer it on over your pajamas to run to the pharmacy when you’re not feeling well, I won’t tell anyone.

My dark under eye circles have been the bane of my existence since I was 12. Is the cause lack of sleep? Dehydration? Sinus issues? Stress? Who the hell knows. But there they are, every day, telling the world that I am an exhausted working Mom.

Sloane loves the pool. She jumps from the deck into the water with a crash, never considering her own safety, only to emerge on the surface, shouting “Again!” The pool is my daughter’s happy place. But no place where I need to wear a swimsuit in public is a happy one for me.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
