A few years ago, Banana Republic released a line of shoes, shape wear and other items in inclusive skin tone shades. Several brands had released similar lines only to discontinue them after the press attention ended. But not Banana Republic, they’ve continued to produce items in their True Hues line, and it is fantastic.
True Hues includes tanks and camis, t-shirts, bodysuits, undergarments, and shoes. You can find the whole line here.
My favorite item in the line is this Washable Silk Camisole which is the perfect thing to wear under other pieces. The camisole comes in six skintoned hues. It also comes in tall lengths. I own one of these, and I often wear it under sweaters during the fall. It’s also a great top to wear under blouses that are a bit sheer.
Need more skin tones to choose from? This Convertible V-Neck Camisole comes in 11 hues. It’s available in sizes XXS to XXL, and petite sizes. I own this cami as well, and it’s just a great piece. It’s fitted, but it’s not shapewear. The modal fabric isn’t too heavy, and it breathes well. It’s a great foundation piece.
Plus-size? I couldn’t find a lot of options, but Old Navy has a simple camisole in four skin hues. They’re currently under-$5. If someone is aware of inclusive or plus-size brands that offer foundation wear in different skin tones, please leave those names in the comments.

I was just thinking how I needed new camisoles– thank you!
Some of the reviews say the silk cami runs small. How did you find the fit?
It was fine for me, but I can see how if your bust was more than 34″, it could be snug in the top. So I would adjust based on bra size if you need to go up.
Nubian Skin goes up to XXL but they are geared more towards shades for women of color
at the BR outlet near me, they often have these pieces as well as bodysuits in various skin tones as well.
Thanks for this post. Do these have bras or shelf bras? If not, can you recommend something with some support?
I have several of the Old Navy version in a nude-to-me tone, purchased at least 5 years ago, and they have worn like iron. I am finally looking at replacing them since the straps are starting to wear a bit. They are not skin-tight if you purchase your regular size, which is important to me since I don’t want to feel like a sausage under my sweaters. Thanks for providing a couple other options to check out!
