Opinion Page: Product Follow-ups, Vol. V

Jul 14, 2021

Love can be fleeting when it comes to beauty products and articles of clothing.  A must-have sweater might pill or fray after two weeks.  That serum you loved might lose impact over time.  Or maybe you still love the product, replace it before it runs out, or own two in case you lose one.

That’s why I like to follow-up on products I’ve recommended.  Because it’s not just whether you love something in the beginning, it’s whether it stands the test of time.

When I first bought this Peter Thomas Roth Mega-Rich Lotion, I loved it.  It was silky, non-greasy, and left my skin feeling soft and moisturized…for a while.  After a couple of weeks, I realized that the PTR just wasn’t up to the challenge.  And I am back buying my Kiehl’s Creme de Corps at the Anniversary Sale.

This Treasure and Bond dress is one of my favorites.  I bought one last summer, one this spring, and another one last week.  It comes in five colors, all of which are perfect for summer or fall.  The side ruching is very flattering, and it’s a great dress to throw on when you want to run errands, attend a BBQ, or head to work on Friday.

This Dior Apricot Cuticle Cream is sublime.  I keep it by my bedside table to massage into my cuticles before bed.  It is the solution for chapped, dry hands and nails.  And while it’s not cheap, a very tiny amount goes a long way.  I would guess it will take me at least 6-9 months to use it all.

Also, if you order it directly from Dior and select the free gift box option, it shows up beautifully wrapped.  So it’s like a little gift to yourself.  Pair it up with my favorite nail polish for summer (Lucky) and it’s perfect for a friend or relative.

Thanks for these ideas. I actually got a nordstrom card to get the Kiehls refill and the free $60 bonus note. But I have to buy something today to get the note, and the refill isn’t available to me until tomorrow. What should I get? (I don’t like artificial fabrics) Thanks!

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
