Back to Basics: The Comfy WFH Pant

Jul 8, 2021

In the summer, I usually wear dresses.  They’re comfortable.  I only have to choose one item.  And they often looking dressier than they are, which is especially important when I’m not wearing makeup.  But sometimes my partner’s love of air conditioning gets to me, and I just need to wear pants.

When choosing a WFH pant, I avoid leggings.  If I have to run out to file a document with the court or collect a signature from a client, I don’t want to change clothes.  So a comfortable pant with a button-up shirt or nice tee lets me just add a blazer and go.

These are the Athleta Skyline pants.  We’ve discussed these a few times before.  They are more comfortable than leggings.  They look like ‘real’ pants.  They are practically impossible to wrinkle.  They also come in plus, tall, and petite.  And they’re selling out, and I doubt they will be restocked.

These Slim TENCEL Pants are referred to in my house as the ‘summer Skylines.’  The olive color works well with summer pieces (I love them with this eyelet top.), but all of the colors are nice.  The pull-on style is a little less formal, but I usually tie the button-up in the front or wear a top that can go untucked, so you usually don’t see it.  These pants are very comfortable and a nice choice for working from home.

Style question: I have a loooong torso and shorter legs….and having spent my LIFE trying to lengthen the leg-line (I can still hear my mom’s voice in my head), would pants like this be a terrible idea? There are other celebrities that pull this off with figures like mine, but alas, they are celebrities and it just pings my insecurities burned in my brain from an early age. (Kate Middleton, Olivia Wilde, Katie Holmes for example). Thoughts??

Belle, I would love an updated post on swimsuits. I searched the site, and it appears last post on swimsuits was about 2 years ago. I’m really struggling finding a flattering swimsuit with coverage for my post-baby body. Lots of misses so far.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
