Happy Hour: When in Doubt, Cookies

Jun 25, 2021

One of my a-number one hostess tricks is cookies.  I make a batch of cookie dough, freeze it, and then bake a few when people come over.  They’re also a great option for potlucks and backyard barbecues.  Because everyone from kids to adults loves a good cookie.

These Gooey Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies are the kind of cookie where you’re texting the recipe to people as they eat their third one.

A chewy molasses cookie is also a nice option.  And if it’s an event with kids, making sugar cookies and bringing along multiple cookie cutters and toppings will keep them busy for a bit.  Or if you’re baking in the moment, these decadent s’mores cookies are really fun.

In the summer, my fashion formula is dresses that look more expensive than their tag price, that can be dressed up or down.  This floral dress from Old Navy is such a dress.

It’s so comfortable.  I wash it in the machine.  And it’s so flattering.  They also offer it in green, blue, and black — all of which are selling out.

Whether you style it with a block heel sandal and earrings or a cute sneaker and denim jacket, this dress just works.

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

The Find: My Best Workout Shorts

For eight years, I have worn the same workout shorts. Every year, an influencer tries to sell me new shorts. I order them. I try them on. They pale in comparison to the shorts I already own. I return them.
