Happy Hour: Boozy Popsicles

Jun 11, 2021

I thought a boozy frozen treat would be the perfect thing for this week.  But I’m in Montana, and it’s snowing.  In mid-June.  Every time this happens I get a little bit further away from convincing my husband to move for my job.  Because he can tolerate a lot of things, but snow in June is a stretch.

But hey, maybe it’s warm enough where you live for a poolside or beach-bound cocktail on a stick or in a push pop.  So let’s talk about them anyway.

These Coconut Rum Pineapple Popsicles are the thing that summertime dreams are made of.  Or perhaps you prefer a Grapefruit Negroni Popsicle?  Or Watermelon and Tequila?

As for what kind of popsicle mold to use, I have found that these Zoku easy-release molds make the task so much simpler.  Want fun fruit shapes?  Lekue has a few trays in fruit slice and pineapple shapes.  Or go the easy route and get the Frozip plastic tubes that let you make your own Otter Pop-like treats.

Last summer I spent a decent amount of money on a caftan that looks shockingly similar to this pink one from Amazon.  It also comes in blue.  And I cannot recommend this style highly enough.  The waistband gives you all the great things about a caftan but with a bit more shape, so the look is more flattering.

The caftan comes in one size and adjusts with a drawstring.  I loved mine, and wore it too much.  So for <$25, I grabbed one of these as well.

Hi Abra, I love a good deal, but that company on Amazon is clearly ripping off Emerson Fry. Not only is the caftan print identical, they are actually using Emerson Fry’s own (presumably copyrighted) pictures of their product from the EF website: https://emersonfry.com/products/emerson-caftan-ink-organic.

EF is a great company with a eco-friendly mission: https://emersonfry.com/pages/about-us. Their clothes tend to be on the expensive side because their are made in the USA, typically made-to-order or in limited runs, using eco-friendly fabrics and dyes.

This isn’t meant to be a mean post or a call-out, but I would want to know this information if I were contemplating purchasing a knock-off from Amazon.

Do you have a link for the caftan that’s pictured? It’s gorgeous!

SNOW! In June! When does it NOT snow in Montana. Just kidding but man…I would not be happy.

Hang in there! Does it warm up quickly like Colorado?

  4. AMY PARKER says:

The blue caftan’s pictures are a direct rip off of pictures from Emerson Fry’s website (see the Emerson caftan in ink on emersonfry.com). Who knows what you will actually get when they don’t even take real pictures of the item?

I think you posted the wrong link for the caftan- I can’t get to it!

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
