Wednesday Outfit: A Pretty Look for the Office

Jun 9, 2021

Returning to the office?  Unsure of what to wear?  When I spotted this outfit on Instagram pre-pandemic, I set it aside for a future post.  And now feels like the perfect time for an outfit that’s pretty, pulled together, and simple.

This look comes to us from Jennifer at Beauty, Love, and Grub.  As an over-40 influencer, she chooses outfits that are pretty and easy to wear.  And this one is no exception.

Sweater // If you don’t have a simple black crewneck sweater laying around, you should.  This one from J.Crew is a great option.  If you want something in cotton, this Land’s End one is a good option.  It also comes in plus-size.

Skirt // This dotted Ganni skirt is just incredible.  I wish it was available in all the sizes.  I also found this black skirt with white dots, and this dotted skirt from Nordstrom Rack.  Want some color?  This skirt from Ann Taylor comes in robin’s egg blue with dots.

Plus-size?  This Daniel Rainn skirt is lovely.  Petite?  Try this ASOS skirt.

Shoes // I chose these Mary Jane’s because I adore the little bows, but they’re not right for everyone or every workplace.  So you could choose the regular Rothy points.  Want leather?  These Franco Sarto’s are a really good buy.

Bag // Need new things for work?  The Bloomingdale’s Outlet is saving my life right now.  This Furla satchel is a great bag.  If you need something that holds a laptop, the Matt & Nat bags are my go-to.  I love their Parallel satchel and their Kintla satchel are great.

Earrings // These Majorica drop earrings are so pretty.  If you like pearl jewelry, I have had such good luck with the Majorica line.

When I was in my 20s, I bought every trendy nail polish, eye color, and lip gloss.  Sure, I could only wear them on the weekends, but why not wear emerald green liner?  In my 30s, I became enamored with skincare and took every “must-have” product for a spin.  But in my 40s, my skin […]

November AMA: You Asked, I Answered

Another month has come and gone, and between a busy work schedule, illness and the search for new childcare, I almost forgot to ask for questions for the AMA.  Luckily, I remembered late last night.  So here we go. I always think it’s funny when people send rude or overly personal questions when I put […]

Gift Guide 2023: Stocking Stuffers, Pt. 1

I love stocking stuffers.  They are the best part of Christmas.  There’s just nothing quite like an affordable gift that’s funny or useful or chic (or maybe all three).  So here is Part One of my stocking stuffer gift guides, where nothing costs more than $30.
