So Nice, I Bought It Twice: No. 1

May 27, 2021

This week, I’d like to start a new feature discussing the things I loved so much that I bought them again.  And again.  And, occasionally, again.

Welcome to So Nice, I Bought It Twice.

I would like to thank Samantha for sending me the bad news this morning:  Stella & Dot is retiring my beloved Rebel pendant.  This pendant comes in white, yellow, or rose-tone metal.  And it’s simple, geometric shape pairs well with any outfit.

When she said they were discontinuing it, I rushed to the sale to pick one up.  If you buy one item from the sale, the pendant is $65.  If you buy two, it’s 20% off.  Three, 30%.  And so on.

So what did I do?  I bought two Rebel pendants.  I also snapped up this cute silver/gold coin necklace and this very affordable pearl pendant.  So I essentially got the two Rebels for the price of one.  Hopefully, by the time they both wear out in 10-12 years, I’ll have found another necklace that I like as much.

As you know, I am not one of those bloggers who takes a sample of every face cream that comes onto the market and pronounces it a must have.  If you ever see a post of me applying L’Oreal Revitalift while sitting on my patio in a glamorous, designer sundress, send help.  Because, if that occurs, I am either being held hostage or deeply in debt to the mob and trying to work it off with disingenuous sponsorships.

But this Peter Thomas Roth Niacinamide Dark Spot Treatment…ladies, this s**t works.

I wish I had taken a “before” photo of why my right cheek looked like last week.  Angry, red, spotted, acne covered.  Charcoal masks wouldn’t work.  Drawing salves wouldn’t work.  Toner wouldn’t work.  I was about to pay $1,200 for a micro-needle package, until I remembered this cream (which I ran out of during the pandemic and didn’t immediately rebuy, so my bad).

Four days later.  Acne gone.  Redness gone.  Dark spots diminished.  I could cry I’m so grateful.  but instead, I will just tell you to buy the damn cream.

I don’t promote Memorial Day Sales, because that’s not what Memorial Day is for.  But I feel obligated to tell you that the Nordstrom Half Yearly sale is on right now, and that a few of my favorite things are in stock.

First, this Halogen V-Neck Top.  I own this top in two colors, and it is the perfect under-blazer blouse.  If they made more solid colors, I would own more of them.

Second, these Chinese Laundry Rumor Sandals are the most comfortable high heel I ever worn to an event.  The block heel, the ankle strap — if you have a wedding this summer, snap up a pair.  I have the gold and snake.

Lastly, these affordable Bluetooth speakers are really nice for parties.  You just spread them throughout the space and turn on a playlist.  This Summer BBQ Playlist is a favorite.

This Ouai (pronounced-WAY) Volume Spray is a game changer.  I am on my third bottle.  It gives me the perfect amount of volume, not Texas big, not pasted to my head like a Seattle-filmed teen movie in the 90s.

Spray on.  Blow Dry.  Enjoy all-day lift.

The Peter Thomas Roth cream — when do you use it –in the morning after washing or at night?

    Thank you

Oh interesting re: PTR! I’ve been using this (which is sadly sold out right now) but has a very similar ingredient list at a much better pricepoint. I will say the smell is not great but it dissipates and definitely works. Hopefully they restock soon. https://www.sephora.com/product/topicals-faded-serum-for-dark-spots-discoloration-P470259?icid2=skugrid:p470259

  3. Meg says:

I have been sleeping on the Rebel pendant for YEARS and never pulled the trigger. Thank you for the heads up- I finally purchased it!

  4. Clara says:

I see you coming for Julia Stiles and I won’t stand for it.????

  5. NadinE says:

I bought the Halogen blouse last time you posted it, and I get compliments every time I wear it.

  6. Terri says:

So sad…stella and dot sold out by 8:00 am! sad, sad, sad…

  7. RosaD says:

if you like the PTR I think you will LOVE the Faded cream from topicals. https://mytopicals.com/products/faded they also stock it at sephora sometimes. I get pretty bad hyperpigmentation when I break out and have tried a lot of things for it, the topicals one is the strongest I’ve used so far. and reasonably priced. only downside is it smells quite weird, but it dissipates quickly.
