The Find: Flattering Work Dresses

May 19, 2021

Dressing for work during a pandemic was a challenge.  Making it more of a challenge was the weight I gained during isolation.  These two MM LaFleur dresses made putting together comfortable, flattering outfits a bit easier.  And since they’re both on deep discount, you can snap them up for a song.

The Taylor dress is the perfect dress for wearing under a jacket.  The knotted front is extremely flattering, and the drape shapes the figure beautifully.  The large pocket holds a cell phone and a small wallet.  The dress also comes in plus-sizes.

How much do I love this dress?  I own it in four colors.  Yep, that about covers it.

The Emily dress is the perfect Friday dress.  The a-line shape is structured, but comfortable.  The square neckline and elbow sleeve are both very flattering.  The dress is designed to stand alone, but you can layer on a cardigan if you want.  This dress is also available in plus-sizes.

Belle, do you mind sharing what size(s) you bought the Taylor in, for reference? I’ve had my eye on it forever, and now that it’s retiring, now’s my chance! Thanks!

Just a warning – if you’re tall (I’m 6ft), the Emily dress will not really be work appropriate. As you can see on the model, it hits more mid-thigh than above the knee and on me it’s even shorter. I’ve had better luck length-wise with dresses like the Taylor (I’m partial to the v-neck on the Annie).

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
