Happy Hour: Bourbon & Blackberries

May 14, 2021

Admittedly, I don’t drink a lot of brown liquor during the warm weather months.  But this Bourbon Blackberry Smash is fresh, delicious, and good for backyard parties all summer long.

Half Baked Harvest brings us this smash cocktail made with bourbon, muddled blackberries, and ginger beer.  It’s the kind of cocktail you serve on the patio with a nice steak and vegetable skewer and a salad.  And it’s also a great way to use up fresh berries that might be about to go bad, or you can use frozen.

We’ve discussed how under normal circumstances, I would be extremely reticent to buy a jumpsuit.  The bathroom-undressing issues alone would keep me away.  But now that we’re home most of the time, and will probably continue to be home a lot through the summer, now seems like the perfect time to buy a jumpsuit.

This striped one from Iris & Ink is very cute.  I like the simple shape and the breezy feel.  American Eagle also has an adorable striped jumpsuit in a wider, neutral stripe.  And LOFT has this super beachy choice.

Petite?  Eliza J has a navy and white jumpsuit that’s worth a look.  Plus-size?  This Jessica Simpson jumpsuit is fab.

Not feeling the whole jumpsuit thing?  This striped BB Dakota shirtdress is great.

Could you do a post on how to style the pants? I can’t wrap my head around how baggy they appear in this picture. Thank you!

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
