The Find: A Spring Shirtdress

Mar 25, 2021

From April til October, I almost exclusively wear the same two outfits: a t-shirt dress or a maxi dress.  They’re super comfortable, and they look dressy.  (So I can wear no makeup, a big pair of sunglasses, and some jewelry and still look like I made an effort.) And this dress from LOFT is definitely on my shopping list.

There’s a lot to like about this shirtdress from LOFT.  1) The length is great for spring, summer and fall.  2) The black and white color palette makes it a good choice for casual Friday. 3) It’s super comfortable, so even if all you want to wear is leggings, you’ll get all the comfort you’re looking for with a dressier look.

And did I mention it has pockets?  Women love pockets.  Sadly, the patriarchy decided we didn’t need them.  But back to dresses…

LOFT also has this bright, verdant dress with a fabulous floral print.  This dress also comes in plus-sizes.

Love shirt dresses?  This Norma Kamali maxi dress with a tie front would be a great dress/pool cover up.  I also like this INC dress in a monochromatic animal print.

One styling note about styling shirt-dresses, I hate the flimsy belts they put with them.  So I usually swap the belt out for something more substantial.  This Matt & Nat wide belt and this buckle-front belt from Chico’s would both work.

Unfortunatly, Loft made a corporate decision to stop making it’s plus line- once again leaving women in larger bodies with fewer choices. This decision feels especially egregious given all promises they made 2 years ago when entering the market.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
