Happy Hour: Soda Stream Cocktails

Feb 19, 2021

When my doctor recommended that I give up alcohol and caffeine, I knew that it would not be easy.  London Fogs and Vodka Martinis are a big part of my Friday.  Sunrise, sunset, and what not.  So I needed to find other beverages to replace them.

I bought a Soda Stream on a whim, and I have used it almost every day since I purchased it.

My favorite every day drink was actually suggested to me by a reader, it’s soda water with lemonlime bitters in it.  It’s simple and refreshing, but also feels a little…festive?

Looking for some other recipes for mocktails to make with the Soda Stream, I found this wonderful Grapefruit Rosemary drink from Aline Made.  It’s so fresh with citrus and herbal notes.  It would also taste lovely with a bit of vodka in it, but it’s also fabulous as is.

I also found this lovely Coconut Lime Spritzer and this Berry Nice Mocktail.  Both of which will be perfect for spring and summer.

I like the Soda Stream so much, that I am considering asking for this Aarke carbonator for my birthday.  It’ll look great sitting out on my dining room bar.

These Flora Nikrooz pajamas found their way into my cart a few weeks ago.  They are wonderful.  I put them on on Saturday nights, and it’s like a gift to myself.  The second they hit my skin, the weekend has begun.

They remind me of the Lou & Grey loungewear sets that are so popular right now, but you can buy both pieces for the cost of the L&G pants.  I love both, but these ones are a little nicer for the price.

Plus-size?  MissGuided has a few nice sets in a variety of colors.  Lauren Conrad also has some options for petite readers.

I bought the Aarke to replace a very old soda stream that finally bit the dust. I love it. The bubbles feel smaller than the soda stream, which I prefer. And it looks great on the counter!

How long have you had the SodaStream? I want to get one but the reviews seem to suggest it stops working after a few months?

    • Belle says:

I’ve had it two months. No problems. I’ve already changed the canister once, and it still works fine.

        Thanks!

I’m so envious! I had to order a replacement Soda Stream this week and it is stuck somewhere on a delivery delay. I use it multiple times a day and a week without bubbles has meant I end up drinking less water.

My original Soda Stream was a gift about 6 years ago and it only bit the dust last week.

Those pajamas look so cozy! Did you order your usual size? The Nordstrom reviews are a bit mixed. Thanks!

  4. Lily says:

In the pandemic, we are definitely drinking too much.
To attempt to balance it out, I fell prey to an instagram ad for Alinea’s new alcohol free cocktails: http://zero.recipes/ – and they are so fun!
(Warning: this book is not for mere mortals. Finding the ingredients is a huge scavenger hunt, but having a cocktail that has the sophistication of a mixed drink but none of the downsides of alcohol is magnificent.)

  5. MX says:

Oooh this is so spot on. I just got a Sodastream for my birthday and am obsessed with it. And I’ve been on the hunt for new loungewear, so this post is all kinds of up my alley! Thank you!

PSA that Costco has Flora Nikrooz pajamas for $17 right now! Different style but I picked a pair up in the store today and they feel amazing. https://www.costco.com/flora-nikrooz-ladies'-crop-pant-pj-set.product.100668354.html

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
