Two Ways: My New Favorite Sweater

Feb 1, 2021

The slouchy sweater from this morning is quickly becoming my favorite.  Unlike my Free People tunic, I can wear it to work with a skirt or pants.  And it is so cozy, it makes every day a little bit more comfortable.

Let’s style it!

Sweater // You can find all of the details on this fabulous, <$40 turtleneck in this morning’s post.

Left //  Dressing to work from home is an exercise in making very casual clothes look stylish.  The key to that task is layering.  So here we have the sweater with a color coordinated vest and a non-black legging to jazz it up a bit.

This vest from SO comes in a junior size for you petite ladies.  I also found a similar gray vest in misses from Old Navy, and a plus-size option from Weathercast.

I chose an olive green legging for something a little different.  I like this pair from Colorfulkoala; their joggers are also worth a look.  Plus-size?  Try this pair from Spanx.

When wearing leggings, I like when my shoes coordinate with my pants.  So for this outfit, I chose the camo green Rothy loafers.  You could also do these FitFlop olive flats.

To jazz up the outfit, I chose these chunky hoops from Talbot’s.  I also recommend filling in your brows with a little Boy Brow, even if going makeup free, to give your eyes some pop above your mask.

Right // For this outfit, I wanted something timeless.  An outfit that could be worn at 30, 38, 45, and beyond.  The ivory pants with the grey sweater and the snakeskin pumps is classic and elegant, but also absurdly simple.

The pants for this are deeply discounted from 3.1 Philip Lim.  I also found this pair from Kobi Halperin for under-$100.  Plus-size?  Try these Linea pants from QVC.

Looking for a business casual look?  White jeans are on order as a replacement.

I added this dark grey coat from H&M to pull the whole look together.  It’s a great place for a fashion coat (aka a coat not really built for warmth).  Need a warmer one?  J.Crew’s Day Coat with a Thinsulate layer comes in a pale grey.

As for the accessories, I chose these snakeskin pumps (<$40!!!) from Franco Sarto.  Want something that’s a bit more grey?  These Cole Haans are worth a look.

The bag is a burgundy tote from ASOS with an amazing price.  This Target Dome Satchel is also amazing, and I really like this Turlock accent satchel.

Lastly, I picked a pair of pearl hoop earrings.  I also like these pearl and crystal drops from Shashi.  As for jazzing up the look with makeup, try a brightening stick applied to the corner of the eye and under the brow bone.  It’s a nice way to make your eyes pop.

I love these looks! I definitely want to get this sweater, although one of the colors that I like the most (that gorgeous “hazelnut” color) is sold out in my size currently! Thanks for the inspiration. I also love the tip to coordinate your shoes with leggings.

Lovely! I’m still stuck on the first half of this look in wfh mode.
