What do you guys (Abra & commenters both!) do for date night in? Cooking/Eating together & watching a show feel so commonplace now & less date-like. ISO fresh ideas (games?)

    • Erica says:

We love rummikub & monopoly, other friends like puzzles (my large dog doesn’t permit this), and we like taking walks with wine with the dog (love the wine tumblers with lids).

    • Belle says:

      1) Candle light and real linens for meals.
      2) New recipes only, so it feels like a new experience.
      3) Dress up.
      4) Try Eventbrite for online cooking classes or wine tasting things, etc. so it feels more like a group experience.
      5) Conversation starters or icebreakers so you talk about something new. Or just don’t talk about a few things from your week, so you have something to talk about Friday. Hitha Palepu has a marriage check in thing that can be valuable for couples.

      • Mary g says:

My husband and I did a really fun virtual cooking class through Cozymeal. They have chefs all over the world! Ours was in Tokyo and we learned to make sushi with about 6 other couples from all around the U.S. and Canada.

We also have loved playing Scattegories with just the two of us and a new dice game call Qwixx. I used to think I wasn’t a “game person” but these have been pretty fun!

    • Abbie says:

We haven’t done this in a while, but we used to do iron chef, at home edition. One person picks three to four ingredients that have to be incorporated into the meal in some way. Other person comes up with a menu and plays chef. It makes the meal into a fun game. Then roles switch next time.

  2. Allison says:

I adore the Kate Spade earrings. So very Alexander Calder! Masks have been the undoing of my love of big earrings, but I wear my hair in a short pixie and really want to rekindle that particular accessorial relationship. These may provide a level of infatuation that will make it happen.

  3. Kris says:

I love the AKOLA earrings, they are unusual and very fun!

  4. L says:

Thank you for featuring Akola! I own a few pieces and am a big fan of their mission: https://akola.co/pages/who-we-are

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
