Two Ways: A Blouson Sleeve Top

Jan 20, 2021

This week, we’re talking about shirts and blouses that are good for now and good for later.  Tops that look just as good on Zoom as they do in person.  And this afternoon, we have a light sweater with a balloon sleeve that can spice up any wardrobe.

I wanted to show you this 1.STATE blouson sleeve sweater on the model.  I love the way it looks — dramatic, tailored, fun.  It also comes in white, and is selling out quickly at the discounted price.  If it is sold out in your size, this one from Cable Stitch has a very similar look, but with a unique texture in the weave.

Plus-size?  The closest thing I found is this Lane Bryant blouson sleeve cardigan.  Petite?  Try this Ann Taylor cinched waist top.

For the Home Office // Being relaxed can also be a little bit stylish.  Blend this cool sweater with it’s dramatic sleeve with a comfortable legging.  These daily joggers are from Vuori and are one of my very favorites.  I reviewed them here, and I still love them.  They’re comfortable and soft and, as weird as this sounds, feel a little dressed up for a legging.

Because this top is a v-neck, I wanted to add a pendant necklace.  This black onyx pendant from AllSaints is perfect.  It’s relaxed, but beautiful.

Someone reached out after my last post and asked for a sleeker slipper than the Uggs.  In the same shape, these black-on-black Dearfoams are great.  I also like these slide-on slippers from Schutz.

For the Office // How fabulous is this tie-waist skirt?  When I spotted it on the Express website, I was instantly smitten.  The tie-waist and the flirty shape are both great.  I would tuck in the sweater to show off the side tie.

To blend blue with black, I chose black tights and black ankle boots.  I like both the DKNY tights and the Spanx blackout tights.  I am between sizes, so I size up in both.  Too small tights are one of life’s small tortures.

The boots I chose are from Schutz.  I like the sleek look and the simple shape.  It goes with anything, and they’re a good buy at just under-$150.

If you need to replace dress shoes, now is the time.  So many brands that are well-made, and stylish are on sale because of the pandemic.  The Saks sale is a good place to start.

Lastly, I added these very cool, geometric earrings for a little bit of something extra.  If you want something simpler, I like these Joya crushed stone earrings.

As for hair and makeup, I would probably wave my hair a bit.  Such a fun outfit needs hair that’s more fun.  As for the makeup, I would probably flick my eyeliner.  This Eyeko liner is my current favorite.

Once again, a great two ways! I want all the pieces. That skirt and gosh I need those earrings despite having a rather unreasonable collection already.

Abra, if you see a replica of the necklace VP Harris wore this morning, please let us all know! I absolutely need one for my future important meetings/court appearances.

    That skirt is a FIND!

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
