Opinion Page: Product Follow-Ups, Pt. II

Dec 3, 2020

Last week, I posted a list of product follow-ups and it was a big hit.  So I reached into my closet, dresser, and medicine cabinet to find a few more products to re-review.  Let’s dive in.

90 Degree by Reflex.  It’s chilly in the PNW, and I thought a pair of fleece-lined leggings would make spending time outdoors during the fall a bit easier.  I initially loved the 90 degree fleece-lined leggings, but the love didn’t last.

After two washes, problems emerged.  First, the seams started to fray and threads started to fall out.  And if that wasn’t fantastic enough, the leggings grew shinier with each and ever wash, which made them look cheap.

Need an alternative?  Under Armour Cold Gear is always an option.  But I picked up these CRZ Yoga fleece-lined leggings, and they’re great (especially <$40).

Alo Yoga Glimpse Top.  I purchased this Alo top a few weeks ago, and I love it.  I’m actually mad when it’s in the wash.  It’s impossibly soft, in a pre-washed soft fleece.  Highly recommend.

Want a similarly styled top — with side vents and a high-low style — for about half the price?  Try this Daily Ritual sweatshirt (also in plus size).

Vitruvi Diffuser. This diffuser is one of those purchases that I was unsure that I would like, let alone use.  I’m not big into scented candles, so I assumed this would be a similar experience.  It is not.  I use different scents for different purposes — one to relax and one for work time focus — and I am slowly training my brain.  And they have a lot of different oils to choose from.

DPHue Gloss+. Need a little livening up between hair color appointments?  This semi-permanent gloss from DPHue tones down brassiness and blends in root grow out in the shower.  It also has a deep conditioner in it to give your ends some love.  You can leave it in anywhere from 3-20 minutes; I go for eight.

Curious if the diffuser is okay with the pups. I’ve read essential oil diffusers are not pet safe.

  2. KateL says:

I can vouch for the CRZ yoga fleece leggings – They wash well and don’t slide down while walking/running.

  3. Cait says:

Thanks for the 90 Degree by Reflex review! I have one of their jackets and like it so I was considering buying their leggings as well. Now I’ll go for the Colorful Koalas instead.

  4. Ana says:

Thanks for the DPHue Gloss+ review! I know someone who also uses it and loves it. I’ll need to try this!

  5. Allison says:

Does the dpHue stain your shower?

    • Belle says:

Not that I have noticed because the formula is much thicker than others I have used. My Redken blue conditioner stains everything it touches, this either does it so minimally I haven’t noticed, or not at all.

  6. Amanda says:

Thanks again for taking the time to put together these follow-ups! Love these! Also just purchased a Lands End waxed canvas jacket and Cloudfoam tennis shoes on your recommendation! Just love how you put together outfits.

  7. RR says:

I have that hair gloss and I love it. I also highly recommend their ACV hair rinse. I know its pricy but I only use it once a month or so and my hair feels amazing afterwards.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
