Get the Look: An Office Outfit

Oct 26, 2020

Sweater week continues with a work outfit that is perfect for fall.  A sleek sweater, a chic trouser, and the perfect coat, what more could you want?  Let’s get started.

Instead of the olive pants in Oh What a Sight To See’s inspiration outfit, I decided to go with a deeper green for winter.  To balance the winter white with the colored trouser, I chose a snakeskin pump and a black bag.  It’s a bit more dramatic than a palette of browns, but no less chic.

Coat // This winter white wool coat from Ann Taylor is delightful.  The texture is a bit more modern than flat wool, but if that’s your preference, try this winter white wrap coat from Macy’s.

Sweater // An ivory sweater is a solid basic for any wardrobe.  Layer it under blazers or long cardigans or just pair it with jeans.  This Ann Taylor crewneck is a great choice.  For an affordable option, hit up Modcloth.  For a non-wool option, Theory makes a silk-cotton sweater in ivory.

Plus-size? Land’s End has a cashmere option.  This Talbot’s v-neck sweater is also a lovely option (also in misses).

Pants // These Theory pants come in a sumptuous green.  If you prefer the olive look, try Banana Republic.  Looking for a more affordable option?  Express has a several styles in green hues.

Plus-size readers should check out Eloquii.  Petite readers should have a look at these olive pants from Talbot’s.

Accessories // Instead of my usual pearls with ivory separates, I chose a moonstone earring.  It has the same brightness as pearls with a bit less fuss.  And I added a simple gold cuff from Jennifer Fisher to complete the look.

For the shoes, I chose J.Crew’s Lucie Pumps in snakeskin.  Even 10 years later, these Michael Kors bags are a good mid-price basic.  You won’t find a well-made option under-$150 in this size that is a better deal.  Need a more affordable bag?  A New Day from Target has a number of affordable bags, including this one.

Thanks for sharing this inspiration! Tomorrow I will be wearing my olive ponte pant with the cream Nancy MMLaFleur sweater and I have a great green croc bag I will put with it (if I leave the house)!

Beautiful! The deep green with the snakeskin heels are a really combo.

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
