Two Ways: A Tweed Moto Jacket

Oct 1, 2020

I spotted this Ann Taylor moto jacket last week and it stopped me in my tracks.  I shared it in the Break Things newsletter, and several of you have written in to say how much you love the jackets that you ordered.  So let’s style it.  Because it is a stunner.

Ann Taylor Tweed Moto Jacket

I told you this mocha-colored AT jacket was good.  It gives you all the gorgeous, rocker-chic of a leather moto jacket in tweed.  The fabric option costs less, and are a better option for most offices.  The jacket also comes in petite.  Plus-size?  This terry-cloth jacket is similar.

For Work from Home // LL Bean Fisherman’s Sweater // Halogen Shirttail Tee // Sweaty Betty Olive Leggings // Olive Camo Rothy’s // Otiumberg Sterling Hoops

This layered look is comfortable and chic.  The base layer is a fantastic olive legging and a long shirt-tail tee.  If you’d like a less athletic legging, these Apt. 9 ponte leggings and these Daily Ritual ponte leggings are both good choices.

LL Bean always has the best cable knits.  The hip-length sweater above has a cool weave to it.  If you need a longer sweater, this cotton fisherman sweater is worth a look.  Some of the sweaters are available in plus or petite sizes.

To finish the look, I added a simple hoop earring.  I chose silver to coordinate with the zippers on the jacket.  This isn’t important, but I like the look.  And I chose a pair of camouflage Rothy’s because I like the way they blend in with the ponte leggings.

For my hair, I would wear it in a low bun.  For the makeup, I would even out my complexion and put on a bit of mascara.

For the Office // WHBM Brown Sheath // BR 12-Hour Pumps // Matt & Nat Krista Bag // Curved Teardrop Earrings

This work look blends different brown tones for a sophisticated monochromatic look.  I chose a simple ruched sheath dress from WHBM.  I love the way the darker brown blends with the rich tan jacket.

I kept the accessories for this outfit really simple.  The heels have a wonderful leopard that mixes different rich brown shades.  And if you have to wear high heels, I own a pair of the 12-hour heels and they are quite comfortable.

If you are looking for sculptural, sophisticated handbags, Matt & Nat is the place.  Their Gloria bag is a work must-have.  I even like their Abbot belt bag, which is as nice as a ‘fanny pack’ is ever going to get.

I finished the look with these silver teardrops.  They’re fab, but a little spendy.  These Serafina teardrops are a bit more modern.  I also like these classic teardrops from Talbot’s.

For the hair, I would wear it up, twisted into a slightly messy bun.  For the makeup, I would wear a bronzer and blush cheek duo and dark brown eyeliner.
