WFH Summer Items: Linen Cardigans

May 21, 2020

My office is freezing year round.  Actually, it’s probably colder in the summer because my husband likes to keep the house a balmy 68-degrees in the warmer months.  (Forget the fact that it’s raining outside.)  Maybe he’ll return to the office soon, and I can have my thermostat back.  A girl can dream.

But a chilly office means that I need cardigans.  Loose-fitting, comfortable cardigans.  And since wool isn’t practical for the summer, linen and cotton are my go-to options.

I selected this White + Warren Jetaway Cardigan for three reasons: 1) the pale color, 2) the loose, relaxed style, and 3) the price.  A W+W cardi for $159?  That’s a steal for a heritage brand known for quality pieces.  The cardigan also comes in black and cream, and is perfect for travel, whenever it’s safe to do that again.

Tommy Bahama also has a linen cardigan in soft gold that caught my eye.  If you have a summer wedding to attend (again, whenever those start happening), this would make a nice sundown coverup.

Other option include this cream Kier + J cardigan — 85% cotton, 15% cashmere.  I also like this open-knit BCBG Cardigan and this Club Monaco’s Essential Summer Cardigan.

Plus-size?  This striped Talbot’s cardigan and Nic + Zoe cardigan are both worth a look.

I was looking for a shrug option this morning, just something to throw on over my tank top when the fans are on high and I get chilled. A linen, open knit shrug would be lovely for summer. The hunt is on!

While sitting here chilled in my home “office”, I see that there is a code on the W&W website for an additional 20% off that cardigan!

My dark under eye circles have been the bane of my existence since I was 12. Is the cause lack of sleep? Dehydration? Sinus issues? Stress? Who the hell knows. But there they are, every day, telling the world that I am an exhausted working Mom.

Sloane loves the pool. She jumps from the deck into the water with a crash, never considering her own safety, only to emerge on the surface, shouting “Again!” The pool is my daughter’s happy place. But no place where I need to wear a swimsuit in public is a happy one for me.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
