Four Ways: A Striped Tee

Apr 30, 2020

A striped t-shirt is a wardrobe staple.  The foundation piece for this Four Ways is a striped tee with a twist, a subtle puff sleeve.  Here’s how to wear it for spring and early summer.

Shirt. BR Threadsoft Puff Sleeve Tee (also in petite)

I adore the slightly puffed sleeve on this tee.  If you prefer a white-with-blue color, this short-sleeve top with a puff sleeve is also worth a look.  Plus-size?  Try this long sleeve Sailor Tee from Levi’s.

One.  J.Crew Factory Linen Pants // MK Olive Burnished Sandal // Trina Turk Bahari Pendant // Urban Expressions Crossbody

Recognize parts of this outfit from our last Four Ways?  These linen trousers and MK sandals are coming in for a second try.  I love the idea of a olive pant with olive sandals.  It feels like the perfect work from home outfit, all comfort, but still stylish.

I added this pendant, which is made by artisans in Kenya of recycled brass.  I also like this horn pendant and this Roman coin-style necklace.  Add a simple crossbody and you have an easy spring look.

Two. J.Crew 7″ Short // Best Silver Spiral Studs // Warby Parker Fairfax Sunnies // Universal Thread Lois Flat // Most Wanted Stripe Canvas Tote

I don’t wear shorts often, but when I do it’s either this 7″ pair or J.Crew’s 4″ pair.  They’re simple, come in fun colors, and they’re not fussy.  A good summer staple.

These Universal Thread flats were my best purchase of 2018.  I wore them that summer and last summer.  So what did I do?  I bought a fresh pair for this summer.  They’re the perfect warm weather shoe — half flat, half sandal.

This outfit has the best accessories.  The striped bag?  Phenomenal.  These Warby Parker sunglasses?  The ideal tortoise and metal mix.  Oh, and did I mention that bag is under-$75 + 30% off?  So cute for summer outings.

Three. NYDJ White Denim // Corso Como Julia Flat // ASOS Straw Bag // Layla Gold Moroccan Hoops

Back to basics with this denim outfit.  So easy.  Comfortable jeans, a pop of color in the shoe, and simple jewels.

NYDJ makes my favorite white jeans, but this Talbot’s pair is interesting.  They’re from Talbot’s sculpt line and offer a compression fit in a jegging style.  You also can’t go wrong with these Mother straight leg jeans.

Not in the mood for red flats?  These coral flats from Madewell are another great choice.  Or give white sandals a try with this And Other Stories pair, or a similar ASOS pair in wide fit.

Four. LOFT Dotted Skirt (also in plus and petite) // Mint Crossbody Bag // Minkoff Cluster Hoop Earrings // Splendid Moxie Wedge Sandals

Mixing patterns is a fun fashion trend.  This Dotted LOFT Skirt is just fabulous and it’s available in inclusive sizing.  Such a pretty piece to add to your wardrobe.  Wear it with a striped top or a simple white blouse or a lightweight sweater in a bright hue.

These Splendid sandals are fabulous. A little wedge for lift.  An easy look.  If you want a little ankle support, these Talbot’s flats are great choice.  Wide feet?  Try these Comfortiva slingbacks.

I finished the look with a coordinating mint bag and a cool double ring earring.  If you wanted to dress the look up a bit, add a cork clutch and a coral hoop earring.

With the drawstring pants, are you tucking in the shirt or leaving it untucked?

  2. Fan from bost says:

Oh lord, I want all of these outfits, pronto. Well done AGAIN with the 4-ways.

  3. sara says:

Damn, those cute hoop earrings in look #3 are out of stock. But honestly love all these looks – I have been super resistant to the puff-sleeve trend but the long-sleeved here might be the perfect one to test the waters….

  4. Naomi says:

Those drawstring pants look so perfect for this time. They deserve their own Four Way (and that would help us style the more casual look!)!

  5. Lydia says:

I love these ideas. I have this top in black, and navy with the red stripe. I also purchased them in two sizes and one is slouchier, while the other Is more fitted. I will say that The fabric is thin and shows a very slight bra outline…which I’m ok with on the weekend. I wear it with a cami at work though.

  6. Jo says:

I bought those Universal Thread sandals on your recommendation a year or two ago and have been quite pleased with them!

  7. SArah says:

PSA_ The BR “short sleeve option” Belle posted a) has a square neckline, which i LOVE and b) is currently on sale for $10. Godspeed ladies.

  8. Carrie says:

These are all great, I want them all!
