Happy Hour: A Slushy Cocktail for Two

Apr 3, 2020

Provisions are low.   The shelves are bare.   And we are down to our last bottle of wine, a bottle of white that someone must have given us as a gift.  What to do?  How to survive?

With ingredients and grocery store trips limited, new recipes must be found.   This one from Dessert for Two makes a wine slushy with just two ingredients: frozen fruit and wine.  That’s it.

I don’t know what your weather is like, but ours is still chilly.  Freezing might be a better descriptor.  I have to layer up just to take the pups for a walk.  (They love shelter-in-place by the way; Avery’s lost five pounds.)  And this LL. Bean Cozy Pullover in spruce is one of my favorite pieces (also in plus and petite).

omg making that slushie tonight. I only have white left right now and I haven’t wanted to touch it!

Oh man, what a great post. I’m not much of a wine drinker but I’ve had a bottle of white in my fridge for ages and I definitely have frozen fruit, so I’m going to have to try that wine slushy!

Also, I own that pullover and it’s fantastic. More of a tunic-length on me (I’m 5’3″ and must have bought before they added petite sizes, womp) but perfect with leggings.

I just heard on NPR this morning that wine companies are taking a huge financial hit (like every other company). They pointed out that you can order wine direct from the wine company, and many are offering free shipping. They were practically begging listeners to keep ordering wine so they can stay in business!

My local wine store delivered pre-pandemic and is trying to keep their business afloat by expanding delivery and pick up while non-essential businesses are closed.

That LL Bean pullover is one of my very favorite sweatshirts…this pandemic may very well result in me owning it in every color! 😀

I placed a wine order on Vivino, which worked out great.

  6. Arie says:

I love that pullover, i have it in two colors.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
