Nearly every woman I know owns a white, button-up shirt. But sometimes, a piece that can be worn with anything, gets worn with nothing. Here are some new outfits to inspire you to break out that reliable button-up shirt.
Shirt. Everlane Silky Cotton Relaxed Shirt
This Everlane silky cotton shirt is a wonderful option. It’s moderately priced, well-made, and has a modern, relaxed style. My favorite button-up shirt is the Banana Republic Riley-Fit shirt. Plus-size? Try this Modcloth top.
One. Mango Essential Cotton Blazer and Straight Trousers // Sam Edelman Leopard Flats // Belle & Bloom Satchel
This first outfit is not exactly what I wanted. I was hoping to find a dark green suit or something in a fun color, but this navy was the best option. If you wear suits often, Mango is a good place to go shopping. I really liked the dusty rose color of this Mango suit, but sadly, it’s linen. And no one who works a real job needs a wrinkly linen suit.
To jazz up the navy, I chose a ladylike black satchel and a leopard flat. The leopard gives it a little something extra. Prefer pumps? These Taryn Rose pumps are on my wishlist.
Two. Iris & Ink Plum Sweater // Iris & Ink Genista Pleated Skirt // Selin Slingback Pump // Thacker Hexagon Leather Crossbody // Argento Vivo Link Earring
Spring is on its way, and the bright colors in this pretty outfit are perfect for warmer temperatures. I adore the mix of colors in the skirt. Paired with the jewel-tone sweater, it’s a wonderfully chic look.
Prefer a diffrent color palette? Try this brightly colored Malene Birger skirt with a navy sweater. Or try this fabulous, not-to-be-missed Oasis skirt with a green dot print with a white sweater.
I added this very cool buckle-accented slingback and a simple chain bag to the outfit. I wanted to pull a color from the skirt for the shoes/bag, and the grey seemed like a softer choice than the black. Add a chic earring, and you’re on your way.
Three. Anine Bing Leopard Blazer // Brielle Suede Slingback // Frieda Rothman Vermeil Hoops // Mako Raffia Leather Clutch
It’s always nice to choose something unexpected for a post, and this black and green leopard blazer certainly fits the bill. This would be a great option for a not-too-fancy event where you want to really stand out. If you’re looking for a less expensive option, this Rachel Zoe blazer and this Banana Republic blazer are worth a look.
For the shoes, I added these Ann Taylor Brielle pumps. They are so comfortable. And if you’re looking for a sleek, statement pump, these Ann Taylor shoes have a fantastic look to them.
I chose a sleek hoop earring, but if you want to go a bit bigger, these Baublebar Iberis earrings are fun. Add a sleek envelope clutch and you have a great drinks or party look.
Four. H&M White Blazer // Iris & Ink Malena Leather Skirt // 8 by Yoox Pump // Staud Croc-Effect Shoulder Bag // Missoma Gold Initial Necklace
One last work outfit today, and this one adds a leather skirt for a hint of freshness. Pair the white blouse with a white blazer, and this is a neutral, sophisticated look for a creative business office or a more relaxed professional office.
Inexpensive leather skirts are tough to find. And if you do find one, they’re not usually well made. The only decent ones that I have seen are this Dorothy Perkins skirt and this Express skirt.
How great are these shoes? I love the braided detail across the front. So chic. Add the Staud structured bag and the look is complete.

These four ways posts are consistently fantastic. I often want EVERY item featured. Thank you for what I know must be hours of work!!
Totally agree! some great inspiration here!
Endorsement for the Dorothy Perkins faux leather skirt. I bought the last one you posted a couple of weeks ago and LOVE it. I haven’t had it very long, but already wore it a bunch of times and get compliments every single time.
My absolute favorite, albeit once/twice a year opportunity, is collar up with a ball gown skirt.
Stephanie @ A Millennial Adventure recently styled a dark green suit from Ann Taylor that I liked quite a lot! I think it’s part of AT’s usual suit separates. It’s pretty! I do also love your navy picks though.
The green is sold out right now. It was on for fall last year. I hope they bring it back. I bought one, and it’s great.
