The Find: A Subtly Spangled Top

Nov 5, 2019

It’s November, and ready or not, the holidays are nearly upon us.  Some parties will be filled with cocktail dresses, but most are more casual.  This Ann Taylor blouse has a light shimmer that makes it a lovely choice for low-key festivities.

I adore this Shimmer Dash Smocked Top ($90).  The sleeves, the smocked neckline, the print, it’s all good.  The top has a wonderful moody feel to it.

So how would I wear it?

Let’s say I had a post-work holiday party.  I would wear this top to the office with a navy pencil skirt and a navy crewneck sweater.  That way only the shimmery neckline and cuffs would peek out.  For evening, I would take off the sweater, add a moto jacket, some black ankle boots, and more eyeliner.

This blouse also comes in petite and tall sizes.  Plus?  I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted, but this foil-accented Michael Kors blouse in ivory has a similar feel.

I have been loving a lot of navy this season, but don’t know what to do when it gets colder. Black tights and booties? Tall brown boots? Gray or navy tights? (with what kind of shoes?)… Thank you!

(sigh of happiness) your styling suggestions are always so on point.

The Range: Eyelet Tops for Summer

Airy eyelet fabrics are one of my favorite spring/summer looks. White is, of course, the traditional fabric. But white is tough to wear when you have a toddler, so let’s go with navy this summer.
