A Bag So Phenomenal It Needs Its Own Post

Oct 30, 2019

I saw this bag, and I fainted.  When Kyle revived me, I knew I had to post this bag solo because it deserves a moment in the sun.  It’s a bit on the casual side, but for travel or weekend, it’s the thing.

This Draper James saddle bag has a lovely round shape, chic details, and a sporty style.  The wider strap and locked flap make this a great crossbody for travel.  And I am smitten with the sumptuous deep burgundy color.  (It also comes in navy.)

The price is a bit under-$200, so it’s not as affordable as I would like.  But I ordered it to check the quality, and it feels very substantial.  The hardware feels nice and heavy.   The leather is a  good thickness and has a wonderful feel.

The size is big enough for a wallet, cell phone, chapstick and few small items.   This isn’t a work bag unless you travel light for work.  But it’s a fantastic  bag for giving casual weekend looks some life.

Out of your price range?  This TMRW bag from Nordstrom Rack is under-$125.  Target has an inexpensive burgundy flap crossbody that is similar, but the hardware is black giving it a moodier feel.

Love this bag! And the Target find too!

Big fan of this, but also of the Lo&Sons Pearl. https://www.loandsons.com/products/pearl-saffiano-leather-plum-gold-grey I currently have the L&S Pearl in the Pacific Blue Saffiano Leather — it’s the perfect size, and fits SO MUCH, plus doesn’t show through the leather if you have it stuffed a little too much. It also is extremely durable. Bought it on a Black Friday sale, and love it. Debating now adding a new Pearl in the Plum Exterior or this Draper James you’ve recommended.
Price wise, the L&S Pearl outside of the sale price is $248, so not as affordable as the Draper James. But so far quality wise, it has held up.

Love the color. I feel like bags of this size always have the removable strap (like this one does) and I think I’m in the minority here but I hate it! To me, it always makes the bag look cheaper than it is.

Small edit – “its” instead of “it’s” in the title, because it is possessive.

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
