The Find: A Lace Trimmed Blouse

Oct 1, 2019

Sometimes I spot a piece and just thing, “Yes, that.  I need that.”  This elegant, lace-trimmed blouse from Ann Taylor is just such a piece.  Don’t miss it.

There are many things to like about this Lacy Wrap Top ($80, also in petite).  First, the lace trim is delightful — not too frilly, but feminine and pretty.  The wrap shape is flattering on many body types.  And the finished hem means that you can wear it tucked in or not without looking rumpled.

If you’re concerned about the top being too revealing, there is a snap to keep it closed.  I paid the alterations person at my dry cleaner $6 to move the snap to a location that was more flattering on me.  If you have an ample chest, you may want a sturdier snap, as the one included is a bit flimsy.

Looking for a similar blouse without the trim?  This Antonio Melani wrap top was in saved in my wishlist until I found this one.  Plus-size?  This Pleione top is a crowd pleaser. I also like this City Chic wrap top.  Any competent tailor could add a peek-a-boo lace trim to either of these blouses.  Tall?  This ASOS top is available in limited sizes.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
