The Find: A Muted Pink Jacket

Colored business suits.  Once relegated to the closets of the Working Girl costume department are making a comeback.  Last week, I bought this amazing pine needle green suit from Ann Taylor.  And this week, I spotted this adobe rose suit from Nine West, and I need it.

This Nine West cropped collarless blazer is so chic.  I love the collarless style and the angular hem line.  The soft pink, like desert sand still tilts neutral.  And you can buy this coordinating v-neck sheath dress and belt separately.

Not keen to wear a slightly summery color in fall?  Pair the blazer with a deep purple tie-neck dress or burgundy trousers.

Love the style of the jacket, but not sold on the color?  This Calvin Klein suit in a pale grey and white melange has a similar cut.

My office is casual, but if I needed professional office wear, this blog would be my bible. Gorgeous choices!

I’m a trial attorney, and three of my most complimented suits are colors. One was a deep green from the Limited (RIP), and the other two are from Talbots: a well-fitted peach houndstooth pant suit and a dusty rose skirt suit, very similar color to the one you’ve shared.

Given that so many women are wearing cardigans and yoga pants and calling it business attire, a nicely-cut suit still looks very professional, even if it is colorful.

Claire: the south eastern department store Belk (think Virginia, the Carolinas and down) carry the Limited clothing line in their stores. Not sure of the depth or quality but worth a web search if you miss it. 🙂

That’s interesting. Thanks for letting us know. I hear from a lot of readers that they miss The Limited.

I love the idea of a pale pink jacket; however, I work in a casual office so blazers aren’t practical. Any suggestions for pale pink jackets that are a more casual, field jacket style?

I love the JCrew sweater blazer! It’s cozy and casual but still has a more tailored look. I have it in a pale pink color.

This is beautiful! How is Nine West quality? Comparable to Ann Taylor or BR?

No, definitely more along the Ann Klein/Calvin Klein/Tahari ASL lines – often all polyester. It’s more like something you’d find at Macy’s or TJMaxx/Marshalls. I’m not saying that they’re manufactured poorly, sometimes their pieces hold up better than a BR piece in a better fabric. It wouldn’t be my interview suit, but I occasionally buy trendier separates from these brands. I just wish the sizing were more inclusive in the same styles as their straight sizes.

I couldn’t pull the trigger on the whole Ann Taylor green suit but I did buy the pants! Very excited for them to come.

This is lovely. I wonder how it would look with my ruddy skin, though.

I bought a blush jacket off the street in London last fall and it has been one of my best purchases. I find it more easily goes from day to night than other colors, and similarly matches well black in all seasons and navy in the summer.
