Happy Hour: Low Calorie Cocktails

Jul 26, 2019

How many times have you come home from work after a long week, and you just need to unwind?  Put on some bad television, order takeout, wear your Lululemons, and just chill.  Maybe your chill time could use a cocktail, but so many recipes are for four cocktails, and you just need one.

Enter, Greatist.

The fine people at Greatist have put together a list of 60 healthy-ish cocktails in recipes for one drink a piece.  From white sangria to boozy Arnold Palmer’s to mojitos of all kinds, you can make one fun drink for yourself (and maybe for a friend), and just relax. Because there is nothing like rolling into the weekend refreshed.

In the cooler months, all I want for a relaxing Friday night is Lulus and a loose fitting sweatshirt.  No muss, no fuss.  But in the summer, with limited access to AC, and my dogs’ evening walk to think about, I need something a little cooler and a little nicer.

This tank dress from Daily Ritual is one of my favorites.  It’s comfortable, soft, and just breezy enough to keep you cool.  For shorter option, their boxy tee dress has the easy shape you need to be relaxed.  Plus-size?  Check out their jersey v-neck dress.

Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to clear off my to-do list, clean up my house, and settle into my weekend with a glass of White Sangria and a Greek Mezze bowl, while Kyle goes out with his friends.  It’s going to be awesome.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.

Ask the Editor: Vol. IV, No. Eighteen

Before we start today’s reader questions, I wanted to take a moment to talk a bit about mental health. For those who experience mental health challenges — whether occasionally or frequently — talking about our struggles is a double-edged sword.
