I personally believe that leopard can be worn in any season, but for many women, it’s limited to cold weather months. Snakeskin, on the other hand, is an easy lift in any season. So if you’re looking for a pair of shoes that will work today, in September, or in January, this is them.
These Sam Edelman flats are fantastic. They come in sizes 4 to 11.
I’d wear them to work with a summery red dress. (I own that Donna Morgan in navy. It’s worth every penny of the $49 and then some.) Then, in the fall, I would pair them with olive trousers and an ivory sweater.
I know some of you dislike snakeskin prints. For some it’s the texture, for others it’s just the association with snakes. For those ladies, try these Kate Spade tortoise flats.

I’m definitely part of the “wear leopard year-round” camp.
Me too! Have never heard of wearing leopard only in cold weather.
This is not relevant to this post at all (though I’m slowly coming around to the idea of snakeskin after seeing it here!), but I was searching the archives for your “Closet Edit” series from last September. It is super helpful, but I can’t seem to find part 3? You mention you’d share your advice for paring down things that no longer work for you, which I could use some help with! Any chance you (or someone else) could link it for me?
Cute shoes! I could definitely imagine wearing these all year.
Wondering also If you’d consider expanding the ten favorite things series. I bought one of them (the jacket) and it’s now one of my favorite things too. Alas some of the others were sold out before I could get to them. Could you expand the favorite things series, maybe seasonally if that makes it easier for you?
Yes! I bought these shoes months ago and wore them nearly every day for weeks. I finally had to stop myself from wearing them as an easy first choice because I was going to wear them out too fast. Highly recommend them! (Now I’m wondering if I should go ahead and get a backup pair?)
Yes to the backup pair.
Yes! Thank you. Now I can tell my husband you told me to.
