The Find: A Casual Friday Shirtdress

May 23, 2019

Working in a professional environment, casual Friday isn’t always so casual.  A collared shirtdress is a nice option for those who can’t wear jeans or weekend attire.  And this Uniqlo dress delivers on both style and price.

This Uniqlo shirtdress is ($39) and comes in three colors.  I like this navy print the best.  For a professional office, I would wear it with these navy slingbacks.  For a more casual office, I like these short Everlane block heel sandals.

Love shirt-dresses?  This striped, midi-length shirtdress from Eliza J is nice.  This emerald green 1901 dress is a great look.  Plus-size?  This Rachel Roy Collection dress is a winner.  Maternity?  This Dorothy Perkins dress is great.

I love the concept of a shirt dress, but I’ve tried no less than ten and I swear they all look awful on me. I’m not sure what it is, but it makes me so sad.

The Eliza J midi-length shirtdress also comes in plus, and is in the half-yearly sale!

  3. Jill says:

Probably too detail-oriented of me but it bothers me when the back of the dress is longer than the front and so exposes the inner side of the fabric.

    Hi!

I am currently interning in D.C., coincidentally working amongst the trade associations in the government relations. I was a read this article, and I am realizing that my dresses that I wear as business professional seem to come off as more business casual for your standards (i.e. Uniqlo shirtdress and the midi-length shirtdress from Eliza J). What are some more business professional dress suggestions? Thanks!

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
