The Find: A Chic Going-Out-Top

Apr 23, 2019

I don’t “go out” much anymore, so I am hardly an authority on going out attire.  However, I still know a good date-night top when I see it.  And this Gibson top in both ladies and plus-sizes is it.

This Chelsea Halter Top from Gibson is the going out top that is sultry but classy.  It comes in three bright summer colors, but the emerald green is my favorite.  It also comes in plus-sizes up to 3x.

It’s easy and breezy with a pair of white jeans (my favorite).  It’s also great with a wider leg palazzo pant.  Need a skirt option?  Tuck it into this ASOS green pleated midi-skirt.

Sooo so pretty; that green is my favorite! Did you happen to see any with “regular” straps on your hunt for this one? Strapless bras are a no go for me, sadly.

Same! I refuse to wear strapless bras, so any “going out” tops with normal straps would be appreciated.

Any tips on pairing a looser top with a looser skirt? I have a pleated skirt I struggle to style because I feel a bit sloppy if my top isn’t fitted.

I love this top! While I don’t go out out any more, I do still love a nice outfit for a date night or a girls dinner and this one hits the mark.

p.s. I don’t know if you’ve ever watched any of Iliza Shlesinger’s specials on Netflix (PSA — I think she’s absolutely hilarious), but she has one joke in her one of her older specials where she talks about looking for something to wear on a date and ending up feeling like a “blousy cow” in a printed black and white silk top. I still giggle about that when trying to find something to wear, so thank you for an option that won’t make me feel like a “blousy cow” haha!
