My Anniversary Sale Picks: Clothing Edition

Jul 12, 2018

Since the sale is so big, I didn’t want to try to cram all of my picks into one post.  No, thanks.  Here are the jackets, skirts, tops, and most importantly, dresses, that filled my cart.  Because if you can’t find a good dress at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, all is lost.

Suiting.  Every year, the Sale has one amazing BOSS business suit, and this year is no exception.  I love the tone-on-tone accent on this navy suit.  It’s cool.  It’s modern.  It’s not too much.  Love it.

Blazers.  How cool is this Halogen blouson sleeve jacket?  It would be so fun with distressed jeans or an ivory, wide leg trouser.  Another fantastic choice is this CeCe white-and-black ribbon trim jacket.  Such a classic.

Blouses. This year’s selection of tops was really something.  A lot of lovely pieces, most of them priced under-$100.  Awesome.

The tops that caught my attention include this great Vince Camuto bracelet sleeve top, which I plan to buy in three colors and wear under all of my crewneck sweaters.  I also loved this BOSS cowl neck blouse, this Trouve asymmetric blouse, and this twist front Gibson top (just $39!).

Dresses.  Every year, I find one dress at the sale that I ends up being a wardrobe staple.  This Eliza J Ruffle Sheath Dress is it.  The ruffle is so subtle, but with a little flair.  It’s going to look great under that CeCe tweed jacket above.

Other lovely dresses in the sale include this smocked Chelsea 28 teal midi dress and this wear now/wear later sleeveless Nic + Zoe dress.  But if I could only pick one dress from the sale, and money was no object, this $298 Lafayette 148 shirtdress would be the one to have.

Plus-size?  I love this cobalt crepe cocktail dress from Vince Camuto.

Bottoms.  This plaid stripe Halogen pencil skirt is a fun piece.  It has a vintage vibe to it.  I’d wear it with a blouson sleeve ivory sweater in the winter and high-heeled ankle boots.

Another great skirt on offer is the seamed Halogen pencil skirt.  I own it in four colors.  This year, the Anniversary Sale has this wardrobe staple (petite and misses) in camel or black for $45.

As for pants, these Vince Camuto skinny, ankle pants seem to have a sleek cut to them.  These CeCe ponte bootleg pants could also be a workplace lifesaver.

And on order for denim, I found these medium wash AG Farrah jeans (my favorite) too hard to resist.  If you’re tired of skinny jeans, these bootcut Kut from Kloth jeans are just $60.

On that red jacket – is it a piece that is a staple wardrobe piece, or is it trendy? I try to spend my limited money on pieces that will last a few seasons, but LOVE that jacket. Thoughts?

    • Belle says:

I think it’s a bit trendy, but if you love it, I think you’ll always find a way to wear it. I own a pale blue jacket with a puff sleeve. IT was totally trendy, but I still wear it with navy separates because it’s awesome.

    reply to Emily-
I think you could rock that jacket for at least a couple of years! It’s still a pretty versatile cut so it doesn’t look too trendy.

  3. Melissa says:

I think there’s enough length in the volume at the bottom of the sleeve that it could be tailored to a more standard sleeve once you’re over the trend.

  4. *fatty* says:

Wow you must have a fat fat ass to recommend the AGs. Those large pockets are only meant for those with the fattest of asses.

    • Belle says:

So cute. Really, the best. You’re clearly a wonderful person. Please, feel free to come back and comment anytime.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
