Fantastic Finds: The Cutest Casual Dress

Jun 7, 2018

It’s Sunday.  You’ve overslept.  You have to be at brunch in 20-minutes.  Shower, sure.  Makeup, maybe you can do it in the cab?  What are you going to wear that’s cute enough that it can make it look like you put in effort?  Do I have a dress for you.

This J.Crew Factory Printed Faux Wrap Dress ($50) is the cutest little dress for summer.

The style is absurdly flattering.  Three of my friends own this dress, each of them with a different body type, and it looks good on all of them.  The faux-wrap really defines the waist.  The v-neck is a good depth.  And the hem on the skirt is just a little bit flouncy.

The print is a cobalt and white on navy print called “bandana.”  I don’t know why, it doesn’t look like any bandana I’ve ever seen.

For casual days, I add a black sandal and I’m done.  For dates, I add a block-heel sandal and a couple of black, beaded bracelets.

Not crazy about the print?  Factory has this same style of dress in chambray ($39).  They also have a similar style in a lovely navy floral print and a red floral print.

Website comments suggest it’s a bit short. Are your friends comfortable with the length/are any in the 5’10” range?

Love the dress but I gotta say I’m team maxi! I try to find a maxi with an open back, or deep V, or bold color/print. Looks dramatic (and don’t need to shave legs LOL ) but so simple.

  3. Ooo I like the print! I’m a big fan of faux wrap dresses! I always forget I have a J Crew Factory about an hour from me! Thanks for the inspiration!

I have this dress, and it is literally the most flattering thing I own. I’m 5’3″ and have an hourglass figure. Loved this dress so much I bought it another pattern.

My dark under eye circles have been the bane of my existence since I was 12. Is the cause lack of sleep? Dehydration? Sinus issues? Stress? Who the hell knows. But there they are, every day, telling the world that I am an exhausted working Mom.

Sloane loves the pool. She jumps from the deck into the water with a crash, never considering her own safety, only to emerge on the surface, shouting “Again!” The pool is my daughter’s happy place. But no place where I need to wear a swimsuit in public is a happy one for me.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
