Fantastic Finds: The Best Sandal Alternative

A few weeks ago, I posted a Topshop bag that has become my go-to casual tote, and you ladies went nuts for it. Â And it got me thinking that this might be a good feature, the find that I’m telling all of my friends about. Â So without further adieu, welcome to Fantastic Finds.
From the second I spotted these shoes on the foot of a friend, I knew I had to have them. Â I didn’t know who made them. Â I didn’t know how much they cost (and didn’t much care). Â But I knew they had to be mine. Â So when she told me they were $25 at Target, I nearly burned up the roads getting to the nearest store.
These Universal Thread slides are the perfect mix of casual and chic. Â They also have a bit of that earthy, minimalist vibe that is so popular right now.
I love the criss-cross front and open toe. Â It’s not a sandal, but it’s also not a flat. Â They’re just perfect for summer. Â And I adore the little brass nail trim on the sole.
Wear them with a skinny chino and a navy, ikat blouse to work on casual Friday. Â Pair them with a breezy eyelet dress for drinks on Saturday night. Â Or throw them on with a beachy caftan for Sunday’s pool party. Â So many options.
My fear when I bought these shoes was that they would not be comfortable. Â Mostly, I was concerned about the heel rubbing, and causing blisters. Â But not so much as a red spot so far. Â And on the comfort scale, I pronounce them an 8-out-of-10 straight from the box.
So if you’re searching for a relaxed summer shoe that is not a sandal, this is the one for you.

How flexible is the sole?
Maybe a 6-7 on a scale of 10, but I think they’ll loosen up the more I wear them.

These are nice! My current fave pair of summer sandals are also from Target! I searched high and low for tan leather-looking flat sandals, and lo and behold, they were $10 at Target! So comfy I bought 2 colors. I’ll have to go search for these 🙂 Yay Target!

What is the fit like- I have to order these online (no Target in Canada) so need to be sure of the fit before buying. I’m a 7.5 pretty much all the time….

Belated followup, but i ordered three pairs of Universal Thread sandals from Target thanks to this post and kept two. All three were comfortable and cute, including this pair. If anyone’s reading, there’s still a lot of sandals by this brand available online.
